İlkokul öğrencilerinin bilgilendirici metinleri anlama ve özetleme becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin bilgilendirici metinleri anlama ve özetleme becerileri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırma, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılının bahar döneminde, Ankara iline bağlı Etimesgut ilçesinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modeline göre desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın evreni, Etimesgut ilçesindeki ilkokullarda öğrenim gören dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Örneklem grubunu, basit tesadüfi yöntem ile belirlenen 608 ilkokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak "Kişisel Bilgiler Formu", "Bilgilendirici Metinler İçin Okuduğunu Anlama Testi", "Bilgilendirici Metin Özet Yazma Formu" ve "Özetleme Becerileri Dereceli Puanlama Anahtarı" kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci iki oturumda gerçekleşmiştir. Birinci oturumda kişisel bilgiler ve okuduğunu anlama verileri; ikinci oturumda ise bilgilendirici metinleri özetleme verileri toplanmıştır. Bu süreç 9 haftalık bir süreyi kapsamaktadır. Verilerin analizinde bilgisayar destekli bir istatistik programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin bilgilendirici metinleri anlama düzeyleri incelendiğinde % 36?sının yetersiz; % 58?inin geliştirilebilir; % 7?si yüksek bulunmuştur. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre örneklem grubundaki öğrencilerin bilgilendirici metinleri özetleme beceri düzeyleri %29 (kötü), %31 (yetersiz), %27 (geliştirilebilir), %11 (iyi) olarak sıralanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerin bilgilendirici metinleri anlama becerileri ile özetleme becerileri arasında pozitif yönlü orta seviyede anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yapılacak farklı araştırmalarda ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise öğrencilerinin okuma ve özetleme becerileri mukayeseli olarak ele alınabilir. The aim of the research is to examine the relation between the comprehension and summarization ability of the expository texts in the fourth graders of the primary school.The research was designed according to the correlative survey model. The system of the research is composed of the students attending fourth grade in Etimesgut – a district in Ankara.The sample group includes randomly selected 608 primary school students. "Personal İnformation Form", " Texts For comprehension of Expository Texts", "Expository text Summary writing Form" , "The grading Key to Ability of Summarization" were used.The data is put together in two sessions.In the first session the data about personal information and reading comprehension and in the second session the data about the summarization of expository texts were used. This process includes 9 weeks time. The statistics package is used in the analysis of the data. When examining the understanding of informative texts of fourth grade students in primary school, 36% were inadequate; 58% can participate; 7% higher. According to the results the levels of the students? summarization abilities in expository texts in the sample group can be listed as %29 (bad), %31 (insufficient), %27 (improvable), %11 (good). It is concluded that there is a meaningful relation between the abilities in the comprehension of expository texts and the summarization of expository texts of the primary school fourth graders. In different researches, the reading and summarizing skills of elementary, junior high and high school students can be considered as comparative.
