Yabancı dil öğretiminde z-kitap uygulamalarının karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmesi: New english File Itools ve Yedi İklim Türkçe z-kitap örneği

Abstract

Günümüzde teknoloji hayatımızın ayrılmaz bir parçası olmuş durumdadır. Sanayiden bilime, sağlıktan ulaşıma kadar birçok alanda etkisini hissettiren teknolojik gelişmeler eğitim hayatımızda da birtakım değişim ve gelişimleri beraberinde getirmiştir. Değişen dünya koşulları nedeniyle insanların vakitleri her geçen gün azalmakta bilgisayar, internet ve mobil cihazlarla yapılan dil öğretimleri daha fazla tercih edilir hâle gelmektedir. Teknoloji tabanlı öğretim araçlarının yaygınlaşması bu durumun kanıtı niteliğindedir. Z-Kitap Uygulamaları bu araçların en kolay hazırlanabilen ve maliyet açısından en uygun örneklerinden biridir. Basılı bir kitabı etkileşimli hâle dönüştürmek, günümüz teknolojisiyle kısa sürede gerçekleştirilebilmektedir. Hatta serbest piyasa şartlarında bu hizmeti ücretsiz sunan firmalar bile bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, yurt dışında Türkçe öğretim faaliyetleri gerçekleştiren Yunus Emre Enstitüsünün hazırlamış olduğu Yedi İklim Türkçe Zenginleştirilmiş Kitap (Z-Kitap) Uygulaması ile İngilizce öğretimini dünya genelinde birçok materyal ve kitapla yapan Oxford Üniversitesinin New English File iTool Uygulaması çalıştığı platform, barındırdığı içerik, içeriklerin güncellenebilirliği, internet gereksinimleri, dosya boyutu ve taşınabilirlik, kullanıcı deneyimlerinin kaydedilmesi, sayfa yönetim araçları ve yardım ekranları ile etkinlik şablonları açısından incelenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra z-kitap uygulamalarının ne olduğu ve ne gibi özellikler ihtiva ettiğine ilişkin bilgiler sunulmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre Yedi İklim Türkçe Z-Kitap Uygulamasının çalıştığı platform, içeriklerin güncellenebilirliği, dosya boyutu ve taşınabilirlik, kullanıcı deneyimlerinin kaydedilmesi ve etkinlik şablonları açısından, New English File iTools Uygulamasının ise barındırdığı içerik, internet gereksinimleri ve sayfa yönetim araçları ile yardım ekranı açısından kullanıcılara daha fazla avantaj sunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Nowadays, technology has become an indispensable part of our lives. The technological advancements that have made their impact felt from industry to science, and from health to transportation have brought some changes and developments alongside themselves in our lives. Due to the changing conditions around the world, people have less time day by day, and language instruction made by the computers, internet and mobile devices have become more preferred. The proliferation of the technology based teaching tools is characterized as an evidence of this situation. The E-Book (Z-Kitap) Applications is one of the most appropriate examples of those tools in terms of preparation and cost. Transforming a published book into an interactive book may be realized in a fairly short amount of time with today's technology. Indeed, there are even firms that provide this service for free under the free market conditions. In this study, the New English File iTool Application of the Oxford University that carry out teaching English around the world with many materials and books and the Seven Seasons Turkish Enhanced Book Application (E-Book) [Yedi İklim Türkçe Zenginleştirilmiş Kitap (Z-Kitap) Uygulaması] of the Yunus Emre Institute that carries out Turkish teaching activities abroad are analyzed in terms of the platform on which it works, the contents that it has, its ability to update its contents, internet requirements, file size and portability, ability to record users' experiences, page management tools, help screens and activity templates. Besides, information is provided regarding what the E-Book applications are and what kind of characteristics they include. According to the findings of the study, it has been determined that the Seven Seasons Turkish E-Book Application provided more advantages to the users in terms of the platform on which it works, its ability to update its contents, file size and portability, ability to record users' experiences and the activity templates while the New English File iTools Application provided more advantages to the users in terms of the contents that it has, its internet requirements, page management tools, and help screens.
