Ortaokul öğrencilerinin temel fizik kavramlarına yönelik metaforik algılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin fizik kavramlarına yönelik metaforik algılarını tespit etmek ve incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Çalışma grubunu 2014-2015 öğretim yılı, Kocaeli ilindeki ortaokul öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma metotlarından sistematik metafor analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak; bir veri toplama formu hazırlanmıştır."Kuvvet ………............... gibidir, çünkü ………… ." sorusu sorularak katılımcılara cevapları ile birlikte şekil çizebilecekleri bir veri toplama formu oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma için belirlenmiş olan enerji, basınç, elektrik, ısı, ses ve sürtünme kuvveti kavramlarının her biri için örnekte belirtilen şekilde veri toplama araçları oluşturulmuştur. Uygulama güvenirliği için Kappa istatistiği kullanılmış, uyuşma yüzdesi hesaplanmıştır. Hesaplamalar sonucunda uyuşma yüzdesi %80 hesaplanarak, iyi düzeyde uyumlu olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler, beş aşamalı bir veri analizi sürecinde çözümlenmiştir. Bu aşamalar; kodlama ve ayıklama, örnek metafor listesi oluşturma, kategori belirleme, geçerlik ve güvenirliği sağlama ve metaforları nicel veri haline dönüştürmedir. Elde edilen verilerin frekans değerleri ve yüzdelik değerleri elde edilerek tablolaştırılmıştır. Katılımcılar tarafından oluşturulan metaforlar, ortak özellikleri dikkate alınarak 4 kategori altında toplanmıştır. Bununla beraber oluşturulan metaforlar ontolojik metaforların boyutlarına uygunluğuna göre de kategori edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda metaforlar incelendiğinde katılımcıların en çok "yaşam ile ilişkili metaforlar" kategorisinde yoğunlaştığı belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra katılımcıların ontolojik metafor boyutlarından en çok "amaçları belirleme ve eylemleri motive etme" kategorisinde yoğunlaştığı belirlenmiştir.

The main aim of this study is to determine and investigate the metaphors that middle school students formulated to describe physics concept. In this study the systematic metafor analysis was used in accordance with qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of secondary school students being chosen according to convenience sampling. A data collection form, developed by the researcher, was used as a data collection tool, in which the phrase "Force is like........ because ..." was completed and could be formed together with the answers by the participants. Data collection tools were established for each of the energy, pressure, electricity, heat, sound and friction force concepts specified for the study as specified in the example. For application reliability, Kappa statistic was used and the percentage of aggreement was calculated. The percentage of agreement was found 80%, as a result of the calculations, it was concluded that aggreable was in a good level. The data obtained in the study were analyzed in a five-step data analysis process. These steps were coding and sorting, creating a sample metaforest list, setting categories, providing validity and reliability, and converting metaphors into quantitative data. Obtained data were transposed to tables with descriptive statistics as frequency values and percentile values. The metaphors created by the participants were grouped into four categories considering their common characteristics. In addition, the metaphors created were also categorized according to the fit of ontological metaphors. In this context, it was determined that the participants concentrated mostly on the "life-related metaphores" category. On the other hand, it was concluded that participants focused mostly on the categories of "setting goals and motivating actions" in ontological metaphor dimension.
