The aim of this thesis is to integrate spectrum sensing techniques into new generation systems with a proposed new approach. Thanks to the spectrum sensing techniques in cognitive radio networks, a great advantage has been obtained in the efficient use of the spectrum. In this thesis, spectrum detection technique and genetic algorithm technique are combined and applied to the system. Spectrum sensing techniques have been applied to code division multiple access (CDMA), Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and multi-carrier code-division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems. The presence of licensed users was detected by spectrum sensing techniques. Features that will affect the system such as different signal to noise ratios (Signal To Noise Ratio - SNR), channels, number of users have been examined. It has been observed that the proposed new approach provides high estimation accuracy even when the noise value in the environment increases. Thanks to this high prediction accuracy, the system allowed more users to communicate at the same time. Thus, it has been observed that the spectrum is used more efficiently.
