In this thesis, the bivariate Bernstein operator preserving the polynomial type functions defined on the unit simplex with vertex coordinates (0,0), (1,0) and (0,1) is reconstructed in a way that preserves the exponential type functions. Thus, bivariate Bernstein operator has been modified to preserve both the exponential functions and the domain of the operator has been extended so that has one moved curved side. Then, uniform convergence of the new modified operator is shown with the help of Korovkin's theorem and shape preserving properties are given using the forward difference operator of two variables. In order to determine the local approximation properties of the operator, the rate of convergence is obtained with the help of the complete modulus of continuity defined in Euclidean space. Moreover, the pointwise convergence of the operator is proved by the Voronovskaja type theorem. Then, the bivariate Bernstein operator and the new modified operator are compared. Finally, the approach of the modified operator to the function that forms it is shown with graphics, and then the error estimation table for various numerical values is given.
