İlkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin stem tutumu ve girişimcilik eğilimlerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin STEM tutumu ve girişimcilik eğilimlerinin bazı demografik özellikler açısından incelenmesi ve aralarındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında Kırıkkale ili ilkokul dördüncü sınıfında öğrenimine devam eden 314'ü erkek, 302'si kız olmak üzere toplam 616 öğrencinin katılımı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlişkisel tarama modelinde tasarlanan araştırmanın verileri, "Kişisel Bilgi Formu", "Çocuklar İçin Girişimcilik Eğilimleri Envanteri" ve "STEM Tutum Ölçeği" aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanması, COVID-19 salgını nedeniyle uygulanan uzaktan eğitim sürecinde gerçekleştirildiği için veri toplama araçları öğrencilere çevrimiçi ortamda ulaştırılmış ve araştırmaya katılmak için gönüllü olan öğrencilerin ölçekleri doldurmaları sağlanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistik sonuçları, Mann Whitney U testi, Kruskal Wallis H testi ve Spearman korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca elde edilen tüm sonuçlar için etki büyüklüğü değeri de hesaplanmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde bilgisayar destekli bir istatistik programından yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin STEM tutumu ve girişimcilik eğiliminin yüksek düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin STEM tutumu ve girişimcilik eğilimlerinin okul öncesi eğitim alma durumuna, ailenin gelir düzeyine, takip ettiği çocuk dergisine, kitap okuma sıklığına, okumaktan en çok hoşlandığı kitap türüne ve gelecekte yapmayı düşündüğü mesleğe göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte cinsiyet ile anne ve baba öğrenim durumu değişkenlerinin girişimcilik eğilimi üzerinde, cinsiyet ve anne öğrenim durumunun ise STEM tutumu üzerinde anlamlı düzeyde bir etkisinin olmadığı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin girişimcilik eğilimleri ile STEM tutumları arasında pozitif yönlü ve orta düzeyde bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir.

In this study, it was aimed to examine the STEM attitudes and entrepreneurship tendencies of primary school fourth grade students in terms of some demographic characteristics and to determine the relationship between them. The research was carried out with the participation of a total of 616 students, 314 boys and 302 girls, continuing their education in the fourth grade of primary school in Kırıkkale province in the 2020-2021 academic year. The data of the research, which was designed in the relational scanning model, were collected through the "Personal Information Form", the "Entrepreneurial Tendency Inventory for Children" and the "STEM Attitude Scale". Since the data collection was carried out during the distance education process implemented due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the data collection tools were delivered to the students online and the students who volunteered to participate in the research were provided to fill in the scales. Descriptive statistics results, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Spearman correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. In addition, the effect size value was calculated for all the results obtained. A computer aided statistical program was used in the analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students' STEM attitude and entrepreneurship tendency were at a high level. It has been determined that the STEM attitudes and entrepreneurial tendencies of the students participating in the research differ significantly according to their pre-school education, the income level of the family, the children's magazine they follow, the frequency of reading, the type of book they enjoy reading the most, and the profession they plan to do in the future. In addition, it has been determined that there is a significant difference according to the type of book they like to read, the profession they plan to do in the future and the socioeconomic level of the family. However, it was seen that the variables of gender and mother and father education level did not have a significant effect on entrepreneurship tendency, and gender and mother education status did not have a significant effect on STEM attitude. It has been determined that there is a positive and moderate relationship between students' entrepreneurial tendencies and STEM attitudes.
