The examination of content validity of Turkish questions asking in Level Determination Exam (LDE)

From proclamation of the Republic to now, various passing ways among educational levels were executed. Passing via exams from primary schools to secondary schools shows differentiation according to many variations and Ministry of National Education (MoNE) searches new models for passing from primary schools to secondary schools. In this research, content validity of Turkish questions is examined in the exams: LDE -the main actor for passing from primary schools to secondary schools-and Passing From Primary Schools to Secondary Schools Exam (PFPSS), which was firstly done in November 2013. In this research, documentation analyzes method-one of the methods of qualitative research was used. The data source of this paper is the Turkish questions of LDE from 2008 to 2013 and those of PFPSS in 2013. Data collection tool is check list developed by the researchers. Data was analysed by the four field experts. While doing this, learning fields in 6-8th Grade Turkish curriculum, the number of acquisitions in these fields and asking and representing of these acquisitions in the exams are checked. As a result of the research, It is seen that according to the years, 6-7-8th grade Turkish questions partially covered the curriculum context validity. Mainly the questions were from the field of reading-learning (comprehension). From some fields (listening and speaking) there was no question. In writing field mostly the questions were related with punctuation and spelling. Although grammar questions are suitable for multiple choice exams, it was seen that there was one or two questions.
