Reading texts, which are primary means of teaching Turkish, are tools for transmitting the values, which global and national culture are based on, to students. Accordingly, the aim this study is to find out which values reading texts in the course book for grade 7 that is printed by the Ministry of National Education transmits and how these values are distributed within the book. The corpus of this study - conducted to detect whether values are given place in the book - is the course book for grade 7. In the study, texts in the course book are examined. Taking the values into account, a list was created, and it was shaped as the course book was being analysed. The study is thought to help authors realize that elements related to the values should be cited sufficiently in the reading texts while forming the course books, provide guidance to researchers who will carry a study on this subject and contribute to the field of Turkish Language Teaching.
