Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Ağız Diş Sağlığı Algılarının Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma hemşirelik öğrencilerinin ağız diş sağlığı algılarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırmanın örneklemini bir üniversitenin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümünde öğrenim gören 242 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri; Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu, Çok Boyutlu Ağız Diş Sağlığı Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği (ÇBASKO), Ağız Diş Muayene Formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirmesinde, yüzdelik hesapları, ortalama ölçüleri, Student t testi, One Way ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %86’sının kız öğrenci olduğu, %50.4’nün genel sağlığını ve %37.2’sininde ağız diş sağlığını iyi düzey olarak algıladıkları belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin DMFT indeksi 3.423.09 olarak saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin ÇBASKO toplam puan ortalaması 59.477.50’dir. Öğrencilerin, diş fırçalama durumları, genel sağlık ve ağız diş sağlığına yönelik algıları ile ÇBASKO toplam puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark saptanmıştır (p0.05). Sonuç: Araştırma sonucunda hemşirelik öğrencilerinin ağız ve diş sağlığı algılarının orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelik müfredatlarında ağız diş sağlığı eğitimine önem verilmesi önerilmektedir.

Objective: This study was designed to determine the oral dental health perceptions of nursing students. Material and Methods: The research is descriptive study. The research group constituted of 242 students who were being educated in the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Research data were collected by student descriptive characteristics form, Multidimensional Oral Health Locus of Control Scale (MOHLCS) and Oral Dental Examination Form for each student. Data were evaluated using, Student t test and One Way ANOVA test, percentile calculations and average measures. Results: Eighty six percent of the students were female. Perception of general health was good in 50.4% of the students while 37.2% of the students perceived their oral health as good. The DMFT (Decayed, Missing, Filled Teeth) index of the students was 3.42 3.09. The average score of MOHLCS of the students was 59.477.50. A statistically significant difference was found among students' perceptions of toothbrushing, general health, oral health and MOHLCS total point averages (p0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the perceptions of oral and dental health of the nursing students were moderate. It is recommended that oral and dental health education should be emphasized in nursing curriculum.
