Öğe Childhood Asymmetric Labium Majus Enlargement: Is a Conservative Approach Available?(2009) Soyer T.; Hançerlioğullari O.; Pelin Çil A.; Evliyaoğlu O.; Çakmak M.Unilateral vulva swelling during prepubertal period consists of a wide variety of inflammatory and neoplastic lesions. A group of labial lesions that showed normal radiologic, histopathologic and surgical findings are reported as childhood asymmetric labium majus enlargement. An 11-year-old girl with childhood asymmetric labium majus enlargement is presented to discuss the clinicopathologic features, differential diagnosis, and indications of conservative approach in the treatment of this rare entity. © 2009 North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.Öğe Evaluation of experimental studies presented in national pediatric surgery congresses(2009) Türkmen F.; Soyer T.; Çakmak M.Aim: A retrospective study was performed to evaluate the experimental studies presented in National Pediatric Surgery Congresses. Materials and Methods: Experimental studies presented in National Pediatric Surgery Congresses for the last 10 years were evaluated for presentation years, presentation types (oral presentation, poster with discussion and poster) and the topics retrospectively. Congress presentations in the website of Turkish Associaition of Pediatric Surgeons were taken into consideration. Results: Total number of 342 (% 19.8) experimental studies from 1725 presentations were presented in National Congresses (n:10) between 1999-2008. Among these presentati-ons, 198 (% 57.9) of the them were oral presentations, 108 (% 31.6) of them were poster and 36 (% 10.5) of them were poster with discussions. In these congresses, 81 (% 23.7) gastrointestinal models, 76 (% 22.2) genitourinary models, 70 (% 20.5) ischemia-reperfusion models, 58 (% 16.9) neonatal models, 17 (% 4.9) hepatobiliary models, 16 (% 4.7) trauma and shock models, 13 (% 3.8) tissue culture models, 8 (% 2.4) burn models and 3 (% 0.9) experimental pneumoperitoneum models were presented. The most common performed studies were vesicoureteral reflux, neurogenic bladder (n:.41) and ischemia reperfusion models for testicular torsion (n:40). Eighty-two of these presentations were published in SCI/SCI-Expanded indexed journals. From published studies, 49 of them were oral presentations and 33 of them were posters. Conclusion: Experimental studies constitutean important part of national pediatric surgery congresses and with these studies, pediatric surgery clinics in our country have an important contribution to the international literature.Öğe The use of tissue expander in the management of staged proximal hypospadias repair: Report of case(2012) Çakmak M.; Vargel I.; Soyer T.; Çavuşoğlu T.; Yazici I.; Hançerlioğullari Ö.; Türkmen F.Multiple failed hypospadias reconstructions may cause minimal residual skin, as a result of extensive scarring. However, extragenital full thickness skin grafts or mucosal grafts are often used for urethral substitutions; local tissue expansion can provide additional matched skin, which can be easily harvested and used for penile constructions. Though tissue expanders were used as the choice of treatment in children with multiple failed hypospadias repairs, the use of tissue expander in the management of staged proximal hypospadais repair has not been reported previously. A 3-year-old boy with proximal hypospadias is presented to discuss the use of tissue expansion in the management of staged proximal hypospadias repair. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
