Öğe Dual effects of melatonin on uterine myoelectrical activity of non-pregnant rats(AVES Ibrahim Kara, 2014) Şimşek Y.; Parlakpinar H.; Turhan U.; Tağluk M.E.; Ateş B.Objective: In this experimental study, we aimed to investigate the role of melatonin on uterine myoelectrical activity of non-pregnant rats. Material and Methods: Forty-six female rats were assigned to six groups: (1) control; (0.2 mL 0.9% NaCl was injected intravenously (IV), n=6); (2) melatonin applied as 0.4 mg/kg/IV (n=8); (3) melatonin applied as 4 mg/kg/IV (n=8); (4) single dose of oxytocin (100 mU/kg) injected IV (n=8); (5) melatonin (0.4 mg/kg) plus oxytocin (100 mU/kg) (n=8); and (6) melatonin (4 mg/kg) plus oxytocin (100 mU/kg) injected IV (n=8). Each rat underwent a laparotomy, and uterine myoelectrical signals were recorded. The mean spectrum, averaged over the spectral content of signals in each group, was compared. Results: Melatonin induced uterine myoelectrical activity in a dose-dependent manner. Treatment of melatonin after oxytocin suppressed the mean power of the signals. Serum melatonin concentrations were significantly higher in melatonin-treated rats. Conclusion: Melatonin itself at two different dose levels was found to be equally effective in stimulating the uterine electrical signals, although oxytocin-induced uterine electrical activity was suppressed by melatonin. These findings merit further investigations on the possible beneficial role of melatonin in the treatment of conditions associated with abnormal uterine activity. © 2014 by the Turkish-German Gynecological Education and Research Foundation.Öğe Some notes on the vocabulary of interlinear Kor'an translation into old Anatolian Turkish(Hacettepe University 1, 2016) Şimşek Y.The first Turkish translations of Kor'an, into Karakhanid Turkish, was made by interlinear translation. These translations, though few in number, are significant works for the Turkish vocabulary studies. The interlinear translations in the Anatolian field are high in number, however; they are under the influence of Arabic and Farsi in terms of vocabulary. In this article, some interesting examples of the vocabulary of interlinear Koran translations which are kept in Topkapi Sarayi Müzesi Koğuşlar Kitapliği numbered K. 252 are going to be shown. This translation, with its vocabulary, has an important place among the interlinear Kor'an translations made in the Anatolian field.Öğe An unknown print of the Tafsir of Fatiha by Hadji Bektash Veli(Gazi Universitesi, Turk Kulturu ve Haci Bektas Veli, 2016) Şimşek Y.Religious-Mystical Turkish Literature begins with the adoptation of Islam under the leadership of Hodja Ahmad Yassawi in Turkestan in the 12 th century, develops in the same geography extending from Kashgar to Anatolia, shapes Turkish religious aims and the religious and social lives established in Anatolia and deeply affects Yunus Emre and Mevlana. It has a great impact on Anatolia by being impressed by the movement of Yassawiyya in Turkestan geography, and Hadji Bektash Veli is one of the mystics whose thoughts and spiritual heritages have reached today. He has the Tafsir of Fatiha apart from his other works such as Maka¯la¯t, Shathiyye, Advice of Hadji Bektash, Besmele Tafsir, Commentary of Forty Hadiths, Maka¯la¯t-i Gaybiyye and Kelima¯t-i Ayniyye. Hüseyin Özcan first encountered this tafsir in England, and published the work by comparing it with another print found in Sulaimaniya Library. In this article, we will focus on the print that we have found in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk Library and try to demonstrate the similarities and differences between these two prints. The print completes the missing point in the previous one, and the Tafsir of Fatiha by Hadji Bektash Veli comes out with the help of this print in an exact way.
