Öğe Citing the Holy Qur’an in the Book of Sibawayh(Kırıkkale Üniversitesi, 2024) Doğancı, Seher; Abdalrahman Ibdah, ZeinabThe main goal of language studies in Arabic linguistics is to prevent linguistic deviations by establishing grammatical rules, correcting spelling errors, and Arabizing words of foreign origin. Among the reasons for doing this was to protect Holy Quran and to purify it from errors in its reading and understanding. The desire to preserve the Quran through language rules not only caused the development of linguistic sciences but also led to the emergence of various sciences in the field of religious sciences. In addition, language studies began in the first century of the Hijra, when the Islamic state was expanding and the Arabic language spread too much different geography. This situation paved the way for the rebirth of language studies and pushed Arabic linguists to examine the effects of diacritics in Arabic, to investigate the origins of the roots, and to reveal their rules. Because the first linguistic errors in the Arabic language were the lahn problem, which caused the incorrect use of movements as a result of changing the speech and Arabic composition of the words. For this reason, the aim of the early Arab linguists in establishing grammar rules was to interpret the Holy Quran and understand its provisions. This study aims to touch upon the role of the Quran in explaining the grammatical rules of Arabic, the service of Sibawayh, one of the early linguists, to the Holy Quran, and information about his period and life. Moreover, the analysis of the syntax and grammar rules that Sibawayh put in his book by making use of the commonly used Quranic verses was done using the descriptive analytical method.
