The goal programming approach for the assembly area workload distribution problems
(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2009) Ozyoruk, Bahar; Akgun, M. Bilgehan
In the real life, the systems generally have multiple and confliction aims. In the airplane industry, the elements of zero defect and punctual delivery are significant for security and prestige. However, it is obvious that the rapid and intensive production for punctual delivery would increase the level of defect. In this respect, our study aimed to solve the problem of workload distribution to alternative assembly cells in an air vehicle producing factory in regards to those elements. Throughout the solution process, the technique of goal programming, which finds out the effective solution after evaluating the confliction aims at the same time, is used. With this technique, the elements of zero defect and punctual delivery are aimed to be obtained at the same time without ignoring the costs. Therefore, it was planned to have full work at alternative montage cells and to meet the demands in the same week. By using the standard work as full, the overtime at assembly cells has lessened and therefore, the production costs have decreased. In addition, by meeting the demands in the same week, the risk of delay in the delivery has been removed.
