Öğe Concentrations of Essential and Non-essential Toxic Trace Elements in Wild Boar (Sus Scrofa L., 1758) Tissues from Southern Turkey(Springer, 2014) Yarsan, Ender; Yipel, Mustafa; Dikmen, Bilal; Altintas, Levent; Ekici, Hüsamettin; Köksal, AliWild animals, including wild boars, are suitable for use as bioindicators. The aim of this study was to evaluate the concentrations of selected essential (Co, Cu, Fe, Se, Zn) and non-essential (As, Cd, Pb) potentially toxic trace elements in various tissues (hair and hoof) of wild boars hunted in the vicinity of Antalya province in Turkey, in relation to hunting seasons. Concentrations in mg/kg on dry weight basis were determined as 0.37 +/- A 0.27 mg/kg for As, 0.05 +/- A 0.04 mg/kg for Cd, 0.24 +/- A 0.33 mg/kg for Co, 4.84 +/- A 2.48 mg/kg for Cu, 289.94 +/- A 165.26 mg/kg for Fe, 8.71 +/- A 15.68 mg/kg for Pb, 0.24 +/- A 0.10 mg/kg for Se, and 28.99 +/- A 21.41 mg/kg for Zn in the hair samples; and as 0.11 +/- A 0.04 mg/kg for As, 0.01 +/- A 0.04 mg/kg for Cd, 0.01 +/- A 0.01 mg/kg for Co, 1.03 +/- A 0.25 mg/kg for Cu, 56.88 +/- A 18.68 mg/kg for Fe, 0.30 +/- A 0.18 mg/kg for Pb, 0.11 +/- A 0.05 mg/kg for Se, and 17.91 +/- A 10.98 mg/kg for Zn in the hoof samples.Öğe Determination Of Veterinary Drug Residues In Sea Water, Sediment, And Natural Fish In The Aegean Sea(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2014) Baydan, Emine; Kaya, Sezai; Cagirgan, Hasmet; Yildirim, Ebru; Altintas, Levent; Yurdakok, Begum; Kucukosmanoglu, Asli GulIn this research, residues of certain veterinary drugs (florfenicol (FF) and florfenicol amine (FFA)) were screened in natural fish, sediment, and seawater samples of the Aegean Sea, while only chloramphenicol (CAP) was searched for in the sediment. Samples were collected from fish farming cages in selected coordinates (Bodrum, Salihli Region, Turkey) on September, October 2011 and March, April 2012. Method validation and analyses were carried out by HPLC method. For FF; LOD values were 25.11 ppb for sea water, 27.07 ppb for sediment as well as 38.16 and 37.95 ppb for Mullus barbatus and Oblada tnelanura fish samples. FFA value for Mullus barbatus was 39.60 ppb, respectively. For CAP in sediment samples, LOD values were found as 53.59 ppb. In 4 different sampling areas (A, B, C, D), the lowest temperature was recorded as 14 degrees C in March 2012 but the highest was 28.3 degrees C in October 2011; the lowest dissolved oxygen (mg/L) values were detected in March 2012 (from 6.05 to 6.44), the highest in October 2011(10.78-11.55). The pH values slightly varied month by month; the lowest was 7.9 and the highest 8.6. This research revealed that dissolved oxygen and pH values of the collected seawater samples were in accordance with the normal limits of the offshore seawater values; no significant residue of the analyzed veterinary drugs was found to be present, and all values were found to be lower than LOD values in the sampled fish farms. In conclusion; there was no pollution caused by veterinary drugs.Öğe Effects Of Moldstop® On Aflatoxicosis In Quails(Natl Veterinary Research Inst, 2008) Cengiz, Oezcan; Cakir, Serkan; Sehu, Adnan; Essiz, Dinc; Erguen, Emel; Erguen, Levent; Altintas, LeventThis study was conducted to evaluate the toxic effects of anatoxin (AF) oil the growth performance of quails, and to determine the preventive efficacy of MOLDSTOP (R) (calcium formate, calcium propionate, citric acid, sorbic acid, acetic acid, and carrier). A total of 60 one-clay-old quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) of both sexes were equally divided into four experimental groups each comprising of five replicates of three birds. The supplementation of diet with AF decreased significantly (P<0.001) the feed consumption. The 0.5% addition of MOLDSTOP (R) to the AF diet did not significantly prevent or reduce negative effect of AF on feed consumption at any time period. Light microscopic examination demonstrated that the addition of MOLDSTOP (R) did not decrease flat deposition Caused by the toxin, and besides, an electron microscopic examination indicated the reorganisation in the endoplasmic reticulum and increase in the number of ribosomes and polisomes compared to the AF plus MOLDSTOP (R) group. The data indicated that the addition of MOLDSTOP (R) to diets containing AF did not prevent the negative effects of AF observed in the quail.Öğe Investigation of some veterinary drug residues in sea water, sediment, and wild fishes captured around fish farms in the Aegean Sea: Oxytetracyline, ivermectin and emamectin(Ankara Univ Press, 2015) Baydan, Emine; Kaya, Sezai; Cagirgan, Hasmet; Yildirim, Ebru; Altintas, Levent; Yurdakok, Begun; Kucukosmanoglu, Asli GulVeterinary drug residues and their metabolites in food are regularly investigated by local authorities; however their fate in the environment is still unknown. Despite the importance of the aquaculture industry and the widespread use of antibiotics; limited scientific information regarding their residue in natural fish, sediment and sea water are available in TURKEY. The current study; which is the first study in this area, was undertaken to determine the oxytetracycline (OTC), ivermectin (IVM) and emamectin benzoate (EMA) residues from samples of wild fishes (Oblada melanura, Mullus barbatus), sea water and sediment collected in four different months, caught around the fish cages near Salihli Island in Bodrum, Aegean Sea. Samples were analyzed by High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) followed by the validation for each matrix. No residues were found to be above the Limit of detection (LOD) levels of the validated methods in the screened samples. In order to understand the possible risk of veterinary antibiotics, especially for low dose accumulation, to the ecosystem for sustainable aquaculture, conduction of more screening analysis with expanded possible matrices would be beneficial.Öğe Investigation of the presence of some antibiotics in Raw Goat milk collected from Ankara, Kirikkale and cankiri provinces(Ankara Univ, 2023) Mahamat, Allafouza Tidjani; Altintas, Levent; Aluc, YasarAntibiotics used in food producing-animals may cause residual problems in food in terms of public health. This situation can lead to serious problems in terms of human health. Raw milk is one of the foods that are likely to contain antibiotics, even in trace amounts. This study aimed to determine the residue levels of commonly used antibiotics of raw goat's milk samples offered for sale in Ankara, cankiri and Kirikkale. One active ingredient was selected from the five most commonly used antibiotic groups in animals and it determined the residue levels of these substances in milk. For this purpose, within one year and in two different periods, 150 raw goat milks analyzed in terms of antibiotics using HPLC method. The values for enrofloxacin, sulfamethoxazole, tylosin, penicillin G and oxytetracycline were 7.9, 9.7, 11.5, 5.4 and 7.3 minutes for retention times, 1.47, 0.8; 7.51; 2.69 and 8.89 p.g/L for limit of detection (LOD) and 4.47, 2.44, 22.78, 8.16 and 26.96 p.g/L for limit of quantification (LOQ), respectively. No antibiotic residues were detected in the goat milk samples. It is predicted that the higher resistance of goats to diseases compared to other milk-producing animals, and therefore the lower use of antibiotics in these animals, leads to this result. The findings obtained as a result of this study are valuable in terms of public health. It is important that no antibiotic residues are found in the analyzes.
