Öğe Adsorption of Ag(I) ions from wastewaters using poly(2-aminothiazole): kinetic and isotherm studies(SPRINGER, 2020) Biyikoglu, Mutluhan; Ciftci, HakanIn this study, 2-aminothiazole, (2AT), was polymerized with benzoyl peroxide in 1,4-dioxane solution, and adsorption efficiencies of poly(2-aminothiazole), P-2AT, for the Ag(I) ions to remove from the aqueous solutions were investigated. Adsorption experiments were studied at different pH, contact time and initial Ag(I) ion concentration in a batch system. The optimal pH for Ag(I) adsorption onto P-2AT was found to be 5.0, and the maximum adsorption capacity was determined to be 336.98 mg/g for 1200 mg/L Ag(I) solution at 90 min. P-2AT adsorbents were followed up by recycling in multiple adsorption cycles. The results showed that adsorbent can be used several times. Ag(I) ion adsorption performance of the P-2AT was investigated in conjunction with Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions. The selectivity series of ions were found as Ag(I) > Cu(II) > Zn(II). According to the experimental data, the adsorption reaction fitted the pseudo-second-degree kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm equation.Öğe Biosorption of lead(II) and copper(II) metal ions on Cladophora glomerata (L.) kutz. (Chlorophyta) algae: Effect of algal surface modification(Slovensko Kemijsko Drustvo, 2008) Yalcin, Emine; Cavusoglu, Kueltigin; Maras, Meltem; Biyikoglu, MutluhanHeavy metals are present in some industrial effluents, being responsible for environmental pollution. Biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective method for the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewaters. In this study Pb(II) and Cu(II) biosorption by Cladophora glomerata algae was investigated in batch system from a binary mixture. The effects of some important parameters such as pH, initial concentration of heavy metals and modification of algae surface by heat/acid treatment on biosorption capacity was studied. The maximum biosorption capacity of Cladophora glomerata was 15.0mg/g at pH 5.0 for Cu( II) and 22.5 mg/g at pH 4.0 for Pb( II) metal ions. The biosorption capacity of Pb( II) and Cu( II) ions on the acid/heat-treated biomass was increased as 1.38 and 1.45 times than untreated form, respectively. The biosorption of Pb ( II) and Cu ( II) heavy metal ions on Cladophora glomerata appears to be an efficient and low cost alternative to be considered in industrial wastewater treatment.Öğe Chemical synthesis and characterization of soluble conducting poly(2-aminothiazole)(Springer, 2013) Biyikoglu, Mutluhan; Ciftci, HakanPoly(2-aminothiazole), (P-2AT), was synthesized by chemical polymerization method using 2-aminothiazole as the monomer. Structural characterizations were carried out by Fourier transform infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, UV-vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and scanning electron microscopy techniques. Thermal characterizations were carried out by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. The number average molecular weight, M-n, of the polymer was determined by gel permeation chromatography. The effects of monomer and initiator concentration and polymerization time on the polymer yield were also studied. The solubility of the P-2AT was tested in common organic solvents as well as in acidic and basic solutions. P-2AT was soluble in DMSO, THF and DMF and its conductivity value measured 3 x 10(-6) S/cm.Öğe Non-Acidic Mediated Friedel-Craft Reaction of Thiophene Using EtAlCl2(Asian Journal Of Chemistry, 2013) Unver, Halil; Biyikoglu, Mutluhan; Bulut, AdnanSince alkyl Lewis acids are Bronsted bases, they give a non-acidic reaction media. In this context, acylation of thiophene is investigated in the presence of EtAlCl2 and non-acidic media. Besides 8 examples of thiophene, one example for pyrrole is synthesized in moderate to high yields (up to 99 %).Öğe Preliminary study on heavy metal concentrations of Anatolian Khramulya, Capoeta tinca (Heckel, 1843) from Camligoze Dam Lake, Sivas, Turkey(Bmc, 2013) Dirican, Seher; Cilek, Suleyman; Ciftci, Hakan; Biyikoglu, Mutluhan; Karacinar, Servet; Yokus, AhmetThe concentrations of heavy metals (Ag, Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) were analyzed in muscle, skin and liver of Anatolian Khramulya, Capoeta tinca (Heckel, 1843) from Camligoze Dam Lake located at Central Anatolian region of Turkey. The heavy metal analysis of samples was carried out by using a flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Ag, Cd, Co, Pb and Zn were found in all of the examined tissues. Cu and Ni were not determined in all tissues studied. The mean concentrations of heavy metals in all of the examined tissues of Capoeta tinca were as follows: Ag: 0.057 +/- 0.038-0.120 +/- 0.051, Cd: 0.020 +/- 0.004-1.451 +/- 0.879, Co: 0.127 +/- 0.067-0.205 +/- 0.086, Pb: 1.939 +/- 0.477-2.604 +/- 0.393 and Zn: 0.056 +/- 0.014 0.530 +/- 0.129 mu g/g in Camligoze Dam Lake. According to international criterias and Turkish regulation, heavy metal concentrations especially Cd and Pb in Camligoze Dam Lake were found above the permissible levels for examined tissues of Capoeta tinca. Furthermore, frequent consumption of contaminated fish is able to offer a serious public health risk. Therefore, the concentrations of metals accumulated in the fish, which are commonly consumed by public, should be monitored periodically in Camligoze Dam Lake.Öğe Synthesis and Crystal Structure Determination of a Dimeric Complex of Dimethylammoniumbis(p-tert-butylcatecholato) borate(JAPAN SOC ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY, 2020) Tombul, Mustafa; Biyikoglu, Mutluhan; Bulut, Adnan; Guven, Kutahms; Isilar, OzerThe structure of a dimeric complex, namely dimethylammoniumbis{(p-tert-butylcatecholato) borate}, was determined by X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallized in a triclinic system, and was characterized to be in the space group P-1, with cell parameters a = 11.929(7)angstrom, b = 16.833(6)angstrom, c = 11.259(11)angstrom, alpha = 93.75(5)degrees, beta = 91.00(7)degrees, gamma = 100.37(4)degrees, Z = 4, and V = 2218(3)angstrom(3). The crystal packing is conducted by intermolecular/intramolecular N-H-O hydrogen bonds. The B atom adopts a distorted tetrahedral geometry with four O atoms of p-tert-butylcatechol ligands.
