    Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia: Atypical appeareance in an older patient

    We describe a 76-year-old man presenting with a chronic, non-healing ulcer of six-year duration on his left zygomatic area. The skin biopsy specimen taken from the lesion, showed increased vascular proliferation, edematous endothelial cells in the dermal blood vessels and perivascular eosinophilic/lymphocytic infiltration. The routine and specific blood tests were unremarkable. On the basis of these features, the patient was diagnosed as having angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE). We present the case because of its rarity in older people, atypical clinical appearance; and stress the consideration of ALHE in the differential diagnosis of chronic non-healing superficial ulcers confined to face and neck.

    Extremely delayed renal cell carcinoma metastasis mimicking convexity meningioma (2)

    Cerebral extra-axial metastasis mimicking meningioma which satisfy several criteria for a diagnosis of meningioma, but which have proved instead to be metastatic carcinoma and extremely delayed cerebral metastasis from renal cell carcinoma form the focus of the presentation. 68-year-old-woman who had been operated for renal cell carcinoma 20 years previously is presented with new symptoms of intracranial mass. A large extra-axial mass of the convexity which destroyed calvarium and dura was excised with Simpson Grade I removal, revealed metastatic carcinoma. Imaging characteristics can not always discern between meningioma and metastatic tumours. A meticulous clinical evaluation and histopathological diagnosis is essential in patients with intracranial mass even they resemble both primary and metastatic tumours.

    Nevus sebaceus: Clinicopathologic features of 17 cases

    Nevus Sebaceus of Jadassohn is a rare congenital hamartomatous lesion which is usually located on the scalp. Its clinical importance lies mostly in the potential for the development of various secondary neoplasms and its association with 'Nevus sebaceus syndrome'. In this study, we present 17 cases of nevus sebaceus (7,6%) out of 221 cases which were diagnosed as 'Cutaneous adnexal tumor' at the Department of Pathology, Hacettepe University Medical School, between the years 1980-1993. Mean age was 22 years and all lesions were in the head and neck region. Histologic examination of cases were characterized by distribution of three major components; papillomatous hyperplasia, sebaceous glands and apocrine glands. Lost of hair follicles and developmental abnormalities were seen in each case. 3 cases had 5 different secondary neoplasms. The clinical and pathological findings were discussed in the light of literature.
