Analysis of the occupational accidents occurred in electric generation, transmission and distribution facilities in Turkey
    (2012) Ceylan H.
Broad consumption spectrum of electricity, which is an essential ingredient in any economic activity and the ease of transmission and distribution network to consumers extending to the smallest settlement unit, are continuously increasing the share of total electrical energy consumption in total energy production [1]. Electricity generation, transmission and distribution facilities have a major importance in today's life. Technology highly depends on the use of electricity [1]. An accident which may occur in these facilities could cause a termination in production of many industrial organizations, street lighting in cities or other economical damages. In other words, indirect cost of these accidents is often higher than the direct cost. Besides, even though the electrical energy has many advantages compared to other source of energies, it has to be used instantly because this kind of energy could not be stored. And this circumstance increases the importance of electricity transmission and distribution lines [1]. Based on the analysis of the accident data between 2003 and 2011, it is clearly seen that there are 869 accidents in EUAS (Electricity Generation Company), 171 in TEİAS (Turkey Electricity Transmission Company) and 1438 in TEDAS (Turkey Electricity Distribution Company) and it is also noticed that most of these accidents are major accidents according to their results. In the reference time, %69.9 of the 869 accidents which took place in EUAS, %52.1 of the 171 accidents which took place in TEİAS and %32.1 of the 1438 accidents which took place in TEDAS, resulted in death or serious injury [2]. Death or serious injury in accidents in all sectors combined is about 4% of accidents in Turkey [3]. Additionally fatal accident incidence rates in electricity sector is well above the Turkey's average. Both the high death rate per accidents and the high indirect cost of these accidents, requires through investigation of accidents in Electricity sector in Turkey and right implementation of occupational safety rules. In this study, the accidents occurred in EUAS, TEİAS, and TEDAS between 2003 and 2011 are analyzed according to the accident reports. The accidents happened in private sector is not included to this study. Besides, according to data from the SGK (Social Security Institution) the accidents happened in Turkey and the accidents happened in the area of generation, transmission and distribution of electricity systems are compared with various parameters that are used by international accident statisticians. © Sila Science.

    (2012) Ceylan H.; Erguzen A.; Ozhavzali M.
Developments in the internet, computer and educational technologies have brought many technology-based educational methods such as computer-based education, distance education. In these methods, using the facilities brought by technology, it is possible to offer more efficient learning activities to the students and it can also be possible to convey the educational opportunities to more and more people through this channel. The increase in the application fields of information and communication technologies brought up the ergonomic examining of the software produced by these technologies; the concepts such as ergonomic software, user-friendly software have been started to be used in order to express the efficiency and the performance of the software. In this study the software of Kirikkale University Distance Education Center (KUZEM) Learning Management System (LMS), developed by us, is evaluated in terms of ergonomic criteria and its strong and weak aspects, in terms of cognitive ergonomics, are tried to be introduced. © Sila Science.
