Experimental Application of Cascade Proportional-Integral Controllers for Time Delayed Liquid Level System

In this study, a new cascade control structure and controller design based on standard forms is proposed to improve the performance of cascade control. By adding a time delay to the cascade controller structure, a new control design, which can be called a cascade proportional integral delay controller, has been made. Firstly, the general properties of delay based systems are given and the dynamic behavior of the delayed liquid level system is presented in detail when experimental studies are carried out on it. Then, the mathematical model and analysis of the cascade proportional integral delay controller is carried out. The accuracy of the controller design has been reinforced by the experiments on the real-time liquid level tank of the cascade proportional integral delay controller. Thus, the use of the proposed control design method and its superiority over some existing design methods have been revealed. In addition, with this study, it has been revealed that the performance of cascade proportional integral delay controller design is advantageous compared to other classical methods.
