Öğe Design Features of Some Traditional Fabric Detected in Silifke and Mut(Kırıkkale Üniversitesi, 2020) Konuk, Derya; Dursun, NeclaWeaving is one of our traditional handicrafts, which was first started to meet the needs of human beings such as covering and warming, and which has been shaped in line with the needs over time and has survived to the present day. There are many studies on Turkish tissue. These studies focus mainly on the materials, techniques, types, sizes and composition of weaving. Our research includes the evaluation of the aesthetic and design characteristics as well as the material, technical and compositional characteristics of the plain weaving samples found in Mut and Silifke districts of Mersin province. In traditional kirkit plain weaving of Mut and Silifke regions, mainly geometric ornamental motifs are used. These are bukagi, ram horn, triangle, zigzag, hook, scarlet bead, yar yare kustu, crowfoot, diamond, checkerboard, eli belinde, bird, passionflower, ribbon, octagon, rectangle, chest, eight-pointed star, abundance, trail , watercourse, thorn, hair tie motifs. In plant motifs, paw and leaf motifs. The aim of the research is to present the design features of plain weaving, which have been included in the research, in the context of aesthetic evaluations within the framework of regional features. 10 samples were evaluated within the scope of the research, which differed in regional characteristics from the weaving found in the Mut and Silifke districts where weaving is still being made. The selected examples are the ones that are different according to surface schemes and reflect the regional style, preserved in their original form and have survived to the present day. The aim of this study is to identify these folk culture products which are about to disappear today are determined locally and brought to the literature and transferred to future generations.
