Öğe Determination of iron and lead by flame atomic absorption spectrometry after preconcentration with sepiolite(Springer Verlag, 1997) Turker, AR; Bag, H; Erdogan, BBy using a new adsorbent (sepiolite) an adsorption-elution and atomic absorption spectrometric method has been developed for the preconcentration and determination of Fe and Pb. Recoveries of the analytes were 82 +/- 3% for Fe and 91 +/- 2% for Pb at 95% confidence level. For Cu it was only 5 +/- 1%. The recovery of iron could be increased to about 97 +/- 1% by complexing with EDTA, the recovery of copper only to 57 +/- 2%. The optimised method was applied to the determination of lead in metal materials (e.g. brass).Öğe Wastewater treatment at the petroleum refinery, Kirikkale, Turkey using some coagulants and Turkish clays as coagulant aids(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 1998) Demirci, S; Erdogan, B; Ozcimder, RIn this study, waste water of Kirikkale Refinery (Turkey) was treated with coagulants (alum, ferric chloride, ferrous sulfate and lime) and coagulant aids (polyelectrolytes: anionic, cationic, nonionic) and some Turkish clays namely Samas, Canbensan, Ceylan, Hasandede and Keskin in order to see their effects in clarifying the waste water before biopurification. The results showed that local clays (Hasandede and Keskin) are as efficient as bentonites (Samas, Canbensan and Ceylan). The clarifying efficiency of clays in combination with coagulants shows almost the same results of about 90%. The effect of coagulants, FeCl3, FeSO4 and CaO, was similar to that obtained with Al-2(SO4)(3) The efficiency of polymeric materials especially cationic and anionic polymers was found to be better than that obtained with clays.
