All rights reserved.Öğe Impact of information security awareness on information security compliance of academic library staff in Turkiye(Elsevier Science Inc, 2024) Kavak, AliInformation security compliance means that library staff follows the rules, guidelines, and principles related to information security and implements the security measures provided in the library. This ensures the protection of sensitive information stored and processed in the library environment. This study examined the impact of information security awareness in academic libraries on information security compliance. In a descriptive survey design adopted in the study, the survey data of 136 personnel working in academic libraries in T & uuml;rkiye were analysed. The findings revealed that information security awareness has a positive and significant impact on information security compliance (R-2 = 0.983, beta = 0.991, t(136) = 19.267, p < 0.05). The study concluded that information security awareness is necessary to ensure information security compliance in academic libraries. Consequently, there is a clear need for policy and training programs to enhance information security awareness and compliance among academic library staff. The findings of this study will not only contribute to the literature in the field of information security but also provide an important foundation for improving practices in this area. Therefore, it is important for academic libraries to develop effective policies and training programs to increase awareness of information security and promote staff compliance.Öğe Information Professionals' Metaphorical Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence Concept(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Kavak, Ali; Yilmaz, ErolThis study examines the metaphors used by 66 information professionals in T & uuml;rkiye to conceptualize artificial intelligence (AI). Through qualitative metaphor analysis, rich insights emerged on perceptions of AI's nature, functioning, relationships with humans, roles, and societal impacts. Some of the metaphors used are child, human, artist, human intelligence, robot, assistant, doctor, weapon, terminator, something scary, closed box, black hole, Pandora's box, etc. Multiple, often contradictory metaphors like child and uncontrollable power indicate AI is viewed in a multidimensional way, evoking both promise and concern. Key findings suggest information professionals appreciate AI's transformative potential in enhancing services but also harbor anxieties related to human relevance, technocracy, and social issues like privacy. Understanding these complex cognitive and emotional orientations can facilitate responsible AI adoption to augment information services. Gesturing at AI's multifaceted connotations also foregrounds communication challenges complicating public debate and policymaking on emerging technologies. The value of this study lies in surfacing the nuanced perspectives of a stakeholder group positioned to mediate public understanding and direct integration of AI in information services. All rights reserved.Öğe Toplum 5.0 Perspektifinde Kütüphane 5.0: Teknoloji ve İnsan Merkezli Yeni Nesil Kütüphane Hizmetleri(2023) Kavak, AliHızla ilerleyen bilişim teknolojileri, kütüphaneleri de etkisi altına almıştır. Sanayi devrimiyle başlayan dijital dönüşüm süreci, günümüzde nesnelerin interneti (IoT) ve yapay zekâ teknolojisi ile hızlanarak dijital kütüphane hizmetlerini ön plana çıkarmıştır. Bu süreçten etkilenen kütüphaneler, bilgi erişimini kolaylaştırma, çevrimiçi hizmet sunma ve kullanıcı deneyimini geliştirme amacıyla dijital kütüphane uygulamalarını benimsemiştir. Özellikle e-kütüphane uygulamaları, dijital dünyada varlık gösteren kütüphanelerin Toplum 5.0 süreciyle insan merkezli hizmet anlayışını benimseyerek bilgi erişimini kolaylaştırma, eğitim süreçlerine destek olma, kültürel mirası dijital platformda koruma ve paylaşma hedeflerine odaklandığını göstermektedir. Kütüphaneler, siber-fiziksel sistemlerin entegrasyonuyla bilgiye erişimi kolaylaştırmanın yanı sıra sanal ve fiziksel dünyalar arasındaki etkileşimi artırarak yeni nesil hizmet modelleri geliştirme çabası içindedir. Bu vizyon sayesinde kütüphaneler, bilgiye erişimi demokratikleştirme, yaşam boyu öğrenmeyi teşvik etme, toplumun bilgiye erişme hakkını destekleme ve insanların tamamen aktif ve konforlu bir şekilde yüksek bir yaşam kalitesiyle mutlu olabilecekleri insan odaklı hizmetlere erişebilme konularında önemli roller üstlenmektedir. Teknolojinin hızlı ilerlemesi, kütüphaneleri geleneksel işlevlerini yeniden düşünmeye ve zenginleştirmeye yönlendirmiştir. Bu bağlamda Kütüphane 5.0 yaklaşımı, büyük veri, yapay zekâ, IoT, sanal gerçeklik (VR) ve artırılmış gerçeklik (AR) gibi teknolojilerin entegrasyonunu öne çıkararak kütüphaneleri kişiselleştirilmiş, etkileşimli ve zengin deneyimler sunan merkezler hâline getirme amacını taşımaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, Toplum 5.0 perspektifinde evirilen kütüphanelerin teknoloji ve insan odaklı yeni nesil kütüphane hizmetlerinin anlaşılmasını sağlamaktır. Ayrıca, dijital dönüşümün kütüphaneler üzerindeki etkisini ve kütüphanelerin dijital hizmetler ve kaynaklarla nasıl uyum sağlayabileceğini araştırarak, kütüphanelerin bu teknolojik dönüşüm sürecindeki rolünü anlamayı hedeflemektedir. Çalışmada, literatürde mevcut olan kaynakların sistematik bir şekilde taranmasını ve incelenmesini sağlayan tarama yöntemi kullanılarak geleceğin kütüphaneleri ve kütüphane hizmetlerine yönelik bilgiler sunulmuştur. Bu çalışma, Türkiye'de Toplum 5.0 perspektifiyle gerçekleştirilen ilk inceleme olması ve küresel ölçekte bu tür araştırmaların kısıtlı sayıda olması nedeniyle özgün bir değere sahiptir. Araştırmadan elde edilen temel çıkarımlar, kütüphanelerin Toplum 5.0’a uyum sağlamasına yönelik ipuçları sunmaktadır. Kütüphanelerin Kütüphane 5.0 yaklaşımı çerçevesinde kişiye özel, etkileşimli ve teknoloji destekli yeni nesil hizmetler sunma konusunda çalışmanın sonuçları oldukça olumlu bir tablo ortaya koymaktadır. Araştırma, büyük veri, yapay zekâ, IoT, AR/VR gibi teknolojilerin kütüphane hizmetlerine başarılı bir şekilde entegre edilebileceğini göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda, kütüphaneler teknolojik gelişmeleri yakından takip ederek, bu yeni teknolojileri etkin bir biçimde kullanacak şekilde personel yetkinliklerini güçlendirmelidir. Ayrıca, kullanıcı ihtiyaçlarına daha hızlı ve etkili bir şekilde cevap verebilmek adına kişiselleştirilmiş hizmetleri daha da geliştirmek önemlidir.
