Öğe Effect of Different Gonadotropin Preparation on Ovulatory Response and Embryo Yield in Karayaka Ewes(Kafkas Univ, Veteriner Fakultesi Dergisi, 2012) Agaoglu, Ali Reha; Kaymaz, Mustafa; Korkmaz Agaoglu, Ozgecan; Karakas, Kubra; Pir Yagci, Ilknur; Tasdemir, UmutIn this study, the main goal was to investigate the effect of stimulation with either oFSH (Ovagen (R)) or pFSH (Folltropin (R)) on the superovulatory response and embryo quality in Karayaka ewes. Thirty-five ewes were used in this study. The ewes were randomly allocated to two groups. Estrous cycles in ewes were synchronized with the controlled integral drug release dispensers (CIDR (R)) for 14 days. Starting on day 12 and during 4 consecutive days ewes were treated with oFSH in Group I (GI, n=16) and pFSH in Group II (GII, n=19). Ovarian examination and embryo recoveries were carried out with the aid of laparotomy on day 6 following CIDR withdrawal. There was no significant differences in the number of corpora lutea (CL), unfertilized oocytes (UFOs), total number of embryos (EMBTot), total number of freezable embryos (FEMBTot), ovulation rate (OR), fertilization rate (FR), recovery rate (RR) and embryo recovery rate (ERR) between the groups. On the other hand, embryo quality was better in GI compared to GII (P<0.05). In conclusion, it has been thought that application of oFSH for superovulatory treatment in Karayaka ewes was more effective than pFSH for the quality of embryos.Öğe Investigation of serum anti-Mullerian hormone levels at follicular phase and interestrus period in queens(Ankara Univ, 2024) Pir Yagci, Ilknur; Seven, Goekberk; Elifoglu, Taha Burak; Polat, Ibrahim Mert; Pekcan, MertThe objectives of this study were: i) to report overall mean AMH serum concentrations in queens, ii) to determine relationship between serum AMH concentration with estradiol level, iii) to investigate the relationship between serum AMH with follicular phase and interestrus phase of the estrous cycle, iv) to discuss the usability of AMH as a biomarker to diagnosis of ovarian remnant syndrome in breeding season in queens. In the study, 64 healthy queens referred to clinics for routine ovariohysterectomy were used. After anamnesis, vaginal cytology, macroscopic examination of the uterus and ovaries and estradiol measurement, queens were divided into two groups: follicular phase (n: 45) and interestrus (n: 19). Estradiol and AMH levels in serum samples were determined by ELISA. In the evaluation of serum AMH concentrations, a statistical difference was determined between the follicular phase and interestrus (P<0.05). A negative correlation was found between age and estradiol in both follicular phase (r = -0.171) and interestrus (r = -0.385) groups. A positive correlation was found between age and AMH in the interestrus (P<0.01, r = 0.696). Serum AMH levels in the interestrus were found to be significantly higher than follicular phase (P<0.05). It was thought that this increase in serum AMH levels during the interestrus period, which is the stage where oocytes were selected for ovulation, may be an indicator of the role of AMH in oocyte selection in queens, as in many other mammalian species.Öğe Investigation of the diagnostic value of serology, cytology and polymerase chain reaction in cat toxoplasmosis(Ankara Univ Press, 2017) Yasa Duru, Sibel; Kul, Oguz; Babur, Cahit; Deniz, Ahmet; Pekcan, Zeynep; Pir Yagci, IlknurToxoplasmosis is an infectious disease affecting most of the mammalian and aviary animals caused by Toxoplasma gondii. In this study, diagnostic values of bronchoalveolar lavage, biopsy and PCR and their practical implementation ways were questioned. The results of the each test were evaluated. Additionally, incidence of toxoplasmosis among seropositive cats were investigated by T. gondii and oocyst shedding screened in the stool samples, as well. The material of the study was constituted by blood, stool and bronchoalveoloar lavage samples taken from totally 102 cats. Bronchoalveolar lavage samples were evaluated for cytologic examination. In PCR analysis, T. gondii B1 primary sets were used and conventional-PCR procedure was applied. Antibodies to T. gondii were found in 49 (48,03%) of 102, with titers of 1/16 in 41 (40,19%), 1/64 in 8 (7,84%) cats. Only one cat exhibited systemic toxoplasmosis. In conclusion, although the seroprevalance was 48.03%, systemic toxoplasmosis rate was found 0.98% (1/49) with a lower percentage.
