Öğe Comparison of dentin penetration ability of different root canal sealers used with different obturation methods(WILEY, 2020) Turkyilmaz, Ali; Erdemir, AliThis in vitro study aimed to investigate the tubular penetration depth of four different sealers used with two different obturation methods in the apical, middle, and coronal root canal dentin. Eighty-four single-rooted teeth were instrumented until the F4 ProTaper universal rotary file and filled with AH26, AH Plus (Dentsply, DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany), RealSeal (SybronEndo, Orange, CA), and MTA Fillapex (Angelus, Londrina, Brazil) using cold lateral condensation (CLC) and single-cone (SC) obturation techniques. Thereafter, the roots were sectioned longitudinal and prepared for scanning electron microscope evaluation. The maximum and minimum sealers penetration depth into dentinal tubules at the apical, middle, and coronal regions and the average depth of sealer penetration were calculated. The data was statistically analyzed two-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey and Dunnett tests and independent samplesttest using maximum mean values. There was no statistically difference between the obturation methods (p> .05). When the sealers are evaluated within themselves AH26 was affected by obturation methods significantly (p< .05). Also the results revealed a significant difference between root regions (p< .05). AH26 and RealSeal root canal sealers had the highest penetration values with CLC and SC obturation techniques, respectively. The obturation method did not affect the penetration amount of root canal sealers. RealSeal root canal sealer performed better penetration ability than the other sealers. Apical third of the root in all groups showed lowest penetration depth.Öğe Effects of Nd: YAG laser on tumour necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-1beta and interferon-gamma levels in teeth with apical periodontitis: A clinical study(Wiley, 2023) Baris, Sevda Durust; Turkyilmaz, Ali; Derici, Mehmet KursatThis study aimed to evaluate the levels of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-1beta (IL-1 beta) and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) with asymptomatic apical periodontitis (AP). A total of 60 participants were randomly divided into two groups: the conventional irrigation (control) and the Nd: YAG laser irradiation. The interstitial fluids were obtained after root canal cleaning (day 0) and 1 week later (day 7). The TNF-alpha a, IL-1 beta and IFN-gamma. levels were assayed using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The Mann-Whitney U, continuity correction chi-square, Pearson chi-square and Fisher exact tests were used. An increased level of cytokines on day 7 in the control group was observed, without statistically significant differences (p > 0.05). All cytokine levels decreased over time in the laser group. Only the IL-1 beta level showed a significant difference (p < 0.05). Nd: YAG irradiation has a positive effect on decreasing the proinflammatory cytokine level and may help to control infection in teeth with AP.Öğe Postobturation Pain of three Novel Calcium Silicate-based sealers with asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis or necrotic pulp with chronic apical periodontitis: prospective clinical trial(Bmc, 2024) Turkyilmaz, Ali; Baris, Sevda Durust; Hancerliogullari, Dilek; Erdemir, AliBackground Bioceramic-based root canal sealers are increasingly important in root canal treatment because of their biocompatible properties. This study aimed to evaluate postobturation pain incidence and intensity after root canal obturation with NeoSealer Flo, MTA-Bioseal, and GuttaFlow bioseal calcium silicate-based sealers and AH Plus epoxy resin-based sealer in patients with asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis or necrotic pulp with chronic apical periodontitis. Methods A total of 120 participants with single-rooted teeth were included and randomly divided into four groups according to the root canal sealer used (n = 30). The patients were subsequently categorised based on the pulp vitality (vital or nonvital) in each group (n = 15) and all teeth were obturated in a single-visit. The postobturation pain scores were recorded on a visual analogue scale (VAS) at 6 h, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 7 d and 30 d. Moreover, analgesic intake was also noted at 24 h and 48 h. The Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Friedman test, and Spearman's correlation test were used, and a p value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results VAS scores were highest for the 6 h > 24 h > 48 h approximate to 72 h approximate to 7 d approximate to 30 d time intervals for both pulp status in each root canal sealer. A significant decrease in the VAS score was observed for all sealers from 6 h to 48 h (p 0.05). Nonvital cases had lower VAS scores at all time intervals. Analgesic intake was greater in the first 24 h (p < 0.05) in vital cases (p < 0.05) and also in females than males. Conclusion The level of pain experienced after obturation was similar in patients with different pulp status for all the root canal sealers. Analgesic intake was greater in vital cases and females within 24 h.
