Öğe Zinc Ameliorates Nogo-A Receptor and Osteocalcin Gene Expression in Memory-Sensitive Rat Hippocampus Impaired by Intracerebroventricular Injection of Streptozotocin(Springernature, 2023) Gumus, Haluk; Baltaci, Saltuk Bugra; Unal, Omer; Gulbahce-Mutlu, Elif; Mogulkoc, Rasim; Baltaci, Abdulkerim KasimMetabolic dysfunction is a critical step in the etiopathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. In this progressive neurological disorder, impaired zinc homeostasis has a key role that needs to be clarified. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of zinc deficiency and administration on hippocampal Nogo-A receptor and osteocalcin gene expression in rats injected with intracerebroventricular streptozotocin (icv-STZ). Forty male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups in equal numbers: Sham 1 group received icy artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF); Sham 2 group received icy a CSF and i.p. saline; STZ group received 3 mg/kg icy STZ; STZ-Zn-deficient group received 3 mg/kg icy STZ and fed a zinc-deprived diet; STZ-Zn-supplemented group received 3 mg/kg icy STZ and i.p. zinc sulfate (5 mg/kg/day). Hippocampus tissue samples were taken following the cervical dislocation of the animals under general anesthesia. Nogo-A receptor and osteocalcin gene expression levels were determined by real-time-PCR method. Zinc supplementation attenuated the increase in hippocampal Nogo-A receptor gene expression, which was significantly increased in zinc deficiency. Again, zinc supplementation upregulated the intrinsic protective mechanisms of the brain by activating osteocalcin-expressing cells in the brain. The results of the study show that zinc has critical effects on Nogo-A receptor gene expression and hippocampal osteocalcin gene expression levels in the memory-sensitive rat hippocampus that is impaired by icv-STZ injection. These results are the first to examine the effect of zinc deficiency and supplementation on hippocampal Nogo-A receptor and osteocalcin gene expression in icv-STZ injection in rats.Öğe Young children's sleep patterns and problems in paediatric primary healthcare settings: a multicentre cross-sectional study from a nationally representative sample(Wiley, 2022) Boran, Perran; Ergin, Ahmet; Us, Mahmut Caner; Dinleyici, Meltem; Velipasaoglu, Sevtap; Yalcin, Siddika Songul; Barutcu, AdnanStudies describing paediatric sleep patterns are needed by taking culture into consideration. The aim of this study was to identify parent-reported sleep-wake patterns in young children and explore possible factors influencing sleep problems. The mothers of 2,434 young children enrolled from well-child outpatient clinics in Turkey completed an online survey including sociodemographic variables, Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and Generalised Anxiety Disorder scales. Overall, young children in Turkey go to bed late (10:00 p.m.), awaken twice per night for 30 min, and obtain 11.5 h of total sleep, showing no sex-specific differences. Distinct night-time sleep patterns emerged after 18 months of age. Importantly, although currently breastfed healthy children were 3.8-times less likely to sleep through the night, total sleep duration and exclusive breastfeeding duration were higher in children who were not sleeping through the night. Overall, bedsharing was identified in 11.5%, and only room sharing was reported in 52.9%. Parental perception of a child's sleep as problematic was 35.8%. Mothers with higher educational attainment were more likely to perceive their children's sleep as a problem. Maternal depressive and anxious symptoms and a history of excessive infant crying were the determinants predicting the likelihood of both parent-perceived sleep problems and poor sleepers. The present analysis of sleep structure in infancy and toddlerhood provides reference data for well-child visits. These findings highlight the importance of considering maternal anxiety, depression and behaviour management techniques to cope with fussy infants in addressing childhood behavioural sleep problems.Öğe Wii Fit Exercise's Effects on Muscle Strength and Fear of Falling in Older Adults With Alzheimer Disease: A Randomized Controlled Trial(Human Kinetics Publ Inc, 2024) Ugur, Fatma; Sertel, MeralPurpose: This study aimed to investigate how Wii Fit exercises affect muscle strength and fear of falling in older adults with Alzheimer's disease. Method: The study included a total of 32 volunteers with Alzheimer's disease, aged 65-80 years. These participants were divided into two groups: the exercise group and the control group. The exercise group received a 30-min (one session) twice-weekly exercise program for 6 weeks with games selected from different categories, such as balance and aerobic exercises, with the Nintendo Wii virtual reality device. During this period, the control group did not receive any treatment, and routine medical treatments continued. At baseline and 6 weeks later, Mini-Mental State Examination, knee extension muscle strength, Timed Up and Go Test, and Tinetti Fall Efficacy Scale results were recorded in the exercise and control groups. Results: In intragroup comparison, a statistically significant difference was found in all tests (muscle strength, Timed Up and Go Test, and Tinetti Fall Efficacy Scale) in the exercise group after the exercise program (p < .05), while no significant difference was found in the control group (p > .05). According to the interaction of group and time in the intergroup comparison, there was no difference between the groups (exercise and control group) in muscle strength and Timed Up and Go Test (p > .05), but there was a difference in Tinetti Fall Efficacy Scale (p < .05). Conclusions: This randomized controlled trial supports the claim that Wii Fit exercises can reduce the fear of falling in older adults with Alzheimer's disease.Öğe Whole-genome analyses disentangle reticulate evolution of primroses in a biodiversity hotspot(Wiley, 2023) Stubbs, Rebecca L.; Theodoridis, Spyros; Mora-Carrera, Emiliano; Keller, Barbara; Yousefi, Narjes; Potente, Giacomo; Leveille-Bourret, EtienneBiodiversity hotspots, such as the Caucasus mountains, provide unprecedented opportunities for understanding the evolutionary processes that shape species diversity and richness. Therefore, we investigated the evolution of Primula sect. Primula, a clade with a high degree of endemism in the Caucasus. We performed phylogenetic and network analyses of whole-genome resequencing data from the entire nuclear genome, the entire chloroplast genome, and the entire heterostyly supergene. The different characteristics of the genomic partitions and the resulting phylogenetic incongruences enabled us to disentangle evolutionary histories resulting from tokogenetic vs cladogenetic processes. We provide the first phylogeny inferred from the heterostyly supergene that includes all species of Primula sect. Primula. Our results identified recurrent admixture at deep nodes between lineages in the Caucasus as the cause of non-monophyly in Primula. Biogeographic analyses support the 'out-of-the-Caucasus' hypothesis, emphasizing the importance of this hotspot as a cradle for biodiversity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the effects of music and visual stimulus on WAnT performance in futsal players. Methods: The study included 17 young male futsal players (age, 21.53 +/- 1.32 years; height, 177.59 +/- 5.75 cm; 73.71 +/- 9.31 kg; BMI 23.342 +/- .47). The WAnT was administered using three distinct protocols: with music (M), without music (NM), and with music and visual feedback (MV) following a 10-min warm-up at 72-h intervals. After WAnT, the following parameters were evaluated: (a) peak power output: PPO (W), (b) relative peak power output: RPPO (W/kg), (c) mean power output: MPO (W), (d) relative mean power output: RMPO (W/kg), (e) fatigue index: FI (%), and (f) minimum power output MIPO (W). Results: MV indicated that futsal players' WAnT values, including PPO, RPPO, MPO, RMPO, and MIPO improved more than with other protocols (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between protocols for FI (%) WAnT values (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Listening to music and watching visual feedback while warm up before performing WAnT performance suggest to coaches and futsal players.Öğe Vitamin D levels in children with COVID-19: a report from Turkey(Cambridge Univ Press, 2021) Alpcan, Aysegul; Tursun, Serkan; Kandur, YasarSeveral studies have demonstrated that higher levels of vitamin D are associated with better prognosis and outcomes in infectious diseases. We aimed to compare the vitamin D levels of paediatric patients with mild/moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disease and a healthy control group. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who were hospitalised at our university hospital with the diagnosis of COVID-19 during the period between 25 May 2020 and 24 December 2020. The mean age of the COVID-19 patients was 10.7 +/- 5.5 years (range 1-18 years); 43 (57.3%) COVID-19 patients were male. The mean serum vitamin D level was significantly lower in the COVID-19 group than the control group (21.5 +/- 10.0 vs. 28.0 +/- 11.0 IU, P < 0.001). The proportion of patients with vitamin D deficiency was significantly higher in the COVID-19 group than the control group (44% vs. 17.5%, P < 0.001). Patients with low vitamin D levels were older than the patients with normal vitamin D levels (11.6 +/- 4.9 vs. 6.2 +/- 1.8 years, P = 0.016). There was a significant male preponderance in the normal vitamin D group compared with the low vitamin D group (91.7% vs. 50.8%, P = 0.03). C-reactive protein level was higher in the low vitamin D group, although the difference did not reach statistical significance (9.6 +/- 2.2 vs. 4.5 +/- 1.6 mg/l, P = 0.074). Our study provides an insight into the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and COVID-19 for future studies. Empiric intervention with vitamin D can be justified by low serum vitamin D levels.Öğe Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-Revised(Korean Neuropsychiatric Assoc, 2021) Gunduz, Anil; Gundogmus, Ibrahim; Sertcelik, Sencan; Engin, Betul Hacer; Isler, Aysel; Yasar, Alisan Burak; Gonul, HaticeObjective This study aims to assess the psychometric values of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-Revised (GADS-R) which measures the intensity and duration of worry, various coping and avoidance strategies to cope with worrying, and positive and negative metacognitive beliefs about worrying. Methods 114 patients with generalized anxiety disorder and 198 healthy controls were included in the study. These patients were diagnosed according to DSM-IV TR, and the primary diagnosis of the patients was generalized anxiety disorder which was confirmed via SCID I and II, subsequently. Sociodemographic form, GADS-R total and subscale scores, and Meta-Cognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ30), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale (GAD-7), and Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) were used to assess validity, reliability and cut-off point. Results GADS-R total and subscale scores and MCQ-30, BDI, BAI, GAD-7, and PSWQ were found to be statistically higher in the patients with GAD compared to a healthy control group. GADS-R has five factors and showed relatively acceptable sensitivity and specificity for detecting anxiety disorders at a cut-off point of 1188. Conclusion The GADS-R is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in the Turkish population as an assessment tool.Öğe Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Ottawa Sitting Scale in patients with acute stroke(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Yasa, Mustafa Ertugrul; Arslan, Saniye Aydogan; Sahan, Tezel Yildirim; Caglar, Derya; Demirci, Cevher Savcun; Demir, PervinPurpose: To investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Ottawa Sitting Scale (OSS-T) in patients with acute stroke.Materials and methods: The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS) were used to determine the validity of the OSS-T. The OSS-T was re-applied by the same rater after an interval of 7 days to determine the reliability. To test inter-rater reliability, the evaluation was repeated by a second rater 1 day after the first evaluation. Reliability was quantified using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), and validity was assessed by correlating the OSS-T scores with the results of the other measures.Results: The ICC of the total OSS-T score for inter-rater reliability was 0.996 and for intra-rater reliability, it was 0.951. The Cronbach's a coefficient used to determine internal consistency was 0.980, which indicates excellent reliability. A strong positive correlation was found between OSS-T and TIS (rho = 0.861, p < 0.001), and between OSS-T and BBS (rho = 0.875, p < 0.001). An evident 2-factor structure was shown by the results of the factor analysis.Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that the OSS-T has strong measurement properties, making it a valid and reliable tool for research and clinical practice in patients with acute stroke.Öğe Validation of crystal structure of 2-acetamidophenyl acetate: an experimental and theoretical study(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2022) Shankar, S. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics have been performed for the 2-AAPA-neuraminidase complex as the ester-derived benzoic group shows several biological properties. The X-ray diffraction studies confirmed that the 2-AAPA crystals are stabilized by N-H center dot center dot center dot O type of intermolecular interactions. Possible conformers of 2-AAPA crystal structures were computationally predicted by ab initio methods and the stable crystal structure was identified. Hirshfeld surface analysis of both experimental and predicted crystal structure exhibits the intermolecular interactions associated with 2D fingerprint plots. The lowest docking score and intermolecular interactions of 2-AAPA molecule against influenza neuraminidase confirm the binding affinity of the 2-AAPA crystals. The quantum theory of atoms in molecules analysis of these intermolecular interactions was implemented to understand the charge density redistribution of the molecule in the active site of influenza neuraminidase to validate the strength of the interactions.Öğe Using of the Synthetic Dural Graft as Described in Bogota Bag Technique to Decrease the Adhesions in Decompressive Craniectomy(Turkish Neurosurgical Soc, 2021) Yuksel, Ulas; Bakar, Bulent; Ozdemir, Alemiddin; Zengin, Mehmet; Comert, Serhat; Ogden, MustafaAIM: To create an alternative synthetic dural graft using a parenteral solution bag made of polyvinyl chloride/polypropylene (PVC/ PP). MATERIAL and METHODS: Twenty-two albino rats were divided into the Sham, DC and BAG groups. Except for the Sham group animals, the right parietal bone of the rats was totally drilled in a diameter of 1.0 x 0.5 mm. Then, the PVC/PP BAG was layered over the craniectomized bone of the BAG group animals. Thirty days later, all animals were sacrificed, and inflammatory processes consisting of polymorphonuclear cell infiltration, inflammation, edema, hyperemia, lymphocytosis, histiocytosis, vascular proliferation, and fibrosis were graded at the craniectomy site. RESULTS: The grade values of inflammation, edema, histiocytosis, and fibrosis were found different among the groups (p<0.017). It was observed that placing a synthetic graft to the surgical site undergoing craniectomy could prevent fibrotic adhesions that might occur between the brain tissue and scalp in the chronic period. Furthermore, it was considered that this synthetic material did not increase inflammatory processes secondary to surgery at the surgical site and did not produce a foreign body reaction, toxicity, or infection. CONCLUSION: As a result of this study, it was argued that the synthetic material used in this study could be compatible with dermal and neural tissues and reduce adhesions at the craniectomy field. Therefore, it was considered that this material could be used as an alternative synthetic dural graft in decompressive craniectomy in human subjects after detailed toxicity studies.Öğe Using artificial intelligence models to evaluate envisaged points initially: A pilot study(Sage Publications Ltd, 2023) Amasya, Hakan; Aydogan, Turgay; Cesur, Emre; Kemaloglu Alagoz, Nazan; Ugurlu, Mehmet; Bayrakdar, Ibrahim Sevki; Orhan, KaanThe morphology of the finger bones in hand-wrist radiographs (HWRs) can be considered as a radiological skeletal maturity indicator, along with the other indicators. This study aims to validate the anatomical landmarks envisaged to be used for classification of the morphology of the phalanges, by developing classical neural network (NN) classifiers based on a sub-dataset of 136 HWRs. A web-based tool was developed and 22 anatomical landmarks were labeled on four region of interests (proximal (PP3), medial (MP3), distal (DP3) phalanges of the third and medial phalanx (MP5) of the fifth finger) and the epiphysis-diaphysis relationships were saved as narrow,'' equal,'' capping'' or fusion'' by three observers. In each region, 18 ratios and 15 angles were extracted using anatomical points. The data set is analyzed by developing two NN classifiers, without (NN-1) and with (NN-2) the 5-fold cross-validation. The performance of the models was evaluated with percentage of agreement, Cohen's (c kappa) and Weighted (w kappa) Kappa coefficients, precision, recall, F1-score and accuracy (statistically significance: p < 0.05). Method error was found to be in the range of ck: 0.7-1. Overall classification performance of the models was changed between 82.14% and 89.29%. On average, performance of the NN-1 and NN-2 models were found to be 85.71% and 85.52%, respectively. The ck and wk of the NN-1 model were changed between 20.08 (p > 0.05) and 0.91 among regions. The average performance was found to be promising except the regions without adequate samples and the anatomical points are validated to be used in the future studies, initially.Öğe Use of SAFARI 2n° as workhorse wire for left-sided structural heart interventions(Elsevier Inc, 2024) Inanc, Ibrahim H.; Mutlu, Deniz; Marmagkiolis, Kostas; Iliescu, Cezar; Ates, Ismail; Cilingiroglu, MehmetBackground: With the advances in percutaneous treatment technologies, the left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and the transcatheter mitral valve repair using MitraClip (TMVR) are increasingly being performed today. The SAFARI 2n degrees guidewire is primarily used during transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), our group has also been using it during MitraClip and LAAO procedures. Our clinical study aimed to share our data on the safety and effectiveness for the use of the SAFARI 2n degrees guidewire during MitraClip or LAAO procedures. Methods: This study included a total of 1730 patients (948 patients of MitraClip and 782 of LAAO). It was designed as single arm, retrospective, and multicenter between July 2016 and August 2022. SAFARI 2n degrees guidewire was used exclusively during all the procedures. Results: A total of 1730 patients (male 55.8 %) were included in the study. There was no guidewire-related complications, stroke/transient ischemic attack, bleeding (minor/major/life-threatening), need for cardiac surgery, pneumonia, and vascular dissection/rupture in patients undergoing LAAO. There were 2 device-related pericardial effusions without tamponade. No stroke/transient ischemic attack, bleeding (minor/major/life-threatening), mortality, need for cardiac surgery, pneumonia, guidewire-related complication, pericardial effusion, vascular dissection/rupture, or clip embolization was observed in patients undergoing MitraClip. Conclusions: By taking advantage of its pre-shaped structure, the SAFARI 2n degrees guidewire seems to offer a reliable and safe device delivery for both MitraClip and LAAO procedures as a regular work horse wire. Here, we ask how both processes shape genomic diversity in space and time in the classical Primula vulgaris model. This perennial herb originated in the Caucasus region and was hypothesized to have expanded westward following glacial retreat in the Quaternary. Moreover, this species is a long-standing model for mating system transitions, exemplified by shifts from heterostyly to homostyly. Leveraging a high-quality reference genome of the closely related Primula veris and whole-genome resequencing data from both heterostylous and homostylous individuals from populations encompassing a wide distribution of P. vulgaris, we reconstructed the demographic history of P. vulgaris. Results are compatible with the previously proposed hypothesis of range expansion from the Caucasus region approximately 79,000 years ago and suggest later shifts to homostyly following rather than preceding postglacial colonization of England. Furthermore, in accordance with population genetic theoretical predictions, both processes are associated with reduced genetic diversity, increased linkage disequilibrium, and reduced efficacy of purifying selection. A novel result concerns the contrasting effects of range expansion versus shift to homostyly on transposable elements, for the former, process is associated with changes in transposable element genomic content, while the latter is not. Jointly, our results elucidate how the interactions among range expansion, transitions to selfing, and Quaternary climatic oscillations shape plant evolution.Öğe Ultrasound Assessment of Sarcopenia in Patients With Sarcoidosis(Wiley, 2022) Esme, Mert; Karcioglu, Oguz; Oncel, Asli; Aycicek, Gozde Sengul; Deniz, Olgun; Ulasli, Sevinc Sarinc; Koksal, DenizObjectives Sarcoidosis can cause sarcopenia like other chronic diseases. Ultrasonography is a simple method, which has been used frequently in recent years. We aimed to evaluate the sarcoidosis patients with ultrasonography for sarcopenia and to compare the results of ultrasonography with the accepted standard method, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Methods BIA and handgrip test were applied to all patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis. The patients were classified according to the presence of probable sarcopenia with their handgrip results and the presence of sarcopenia with the appendicular skeletal muscle mass index calculated with using BIA. Ultrasonography was applied to each patient and the thickness of seven different muscle groups of the patients were evaluated. The ability of muscle thickness values measured by ultrasonography to predict sarcopenia was compared with the reference standard test BIA. Results Forty patients (women/men = 31/9) were included in our study. The mean age was 53.2 +/- 12.5 years. A statistically significant positive correlation was observed between handgrip strength and gastrocnemius medialis (GM), rectus femoris (RF) cross-sectional area, rectus abdominis (RA), external oblique (EO), transversus abdominus (TA), and diaphragm thicknesses. Therefore, there was a significant correlation between fat free mass index with RA, EO, and TA muscles. According to the ROC analysis, statistically significant muscle groups predicting sarcopenia were found as GM, RF cross-sectional area, EO, and IO. Again, according to the ROC analysis, it was seen that the thicknesses of GM, RA, EO, IO, and TA muscles corrected for BMI predicted probable sarcopenia with quite high sensitivity and specificity. Conclusions Muscle thicknesses measured by ultrasonography are helpful for the diagnosis of sarcopenia that may develop in chronic diseases such as sarcoidosis. Methods Forty-eight rats were divided into six groups (n = 8) as follows: Group A (control) (0.5 mL saline administered intraperitoneally [IP]), Group B (a single 10 mg/kg dose of DOX administered IP on day 1), Group C (a single 10 mg/kg dose of DOX administered IP 24 h before sacrifice), Group D (100 mg/kg of NAC administered IP for 21 days), Group E ( a single 10 mg/kg dose of DOX administered IP on day 1 and 100 mg/kg of NAC administered IP for 21 days), and Group F (100 mg/kg of NAC administered IP for 21 days and a single 10 mg/kg dose of DOX administered IP 24 h before sacrifice). The ovaries were examined using B-mode US on days 1, 14, and 21, and the histopathological examinations of the ovaries and the uterus were undertaken after sacrifice on day 22. Results Histomorphological analyses showed that ovarian weight decreased after DOX administration in Group B but not in Group E. US revealed a transient increase in ovarian size in Group B and E, reverting to baseline levels over time, as well as a progressive increase in peritoneal fluid in Groups B and E. Group B exhibited a significant decrease in the thickness of the endometrium and myometrium and uterine cornual length, which was not observed in Group E. Histopathological examination showed that DOX caused a decline in follicular count, especially in primordial, secondary, and Graafian follicles, and resulted in follicular atresia, predominantly in Group B. Destructive degeneration/necrosis and vascular changes were most prominently seen in the corpus luteum of Groups C and B. In NAC-treated rats (Groups E and F), although germ cell damage was present, atretic follicles and vascular changes, such as hyperemia and congestion, were reduced. The anti-m & uuml;llerian hormone (AMH) level was the highest in Group F. Conclusions NAC, an antioxidant, attenuated DOX-induced gonadotoxicity in rats.Öğe Ultraviolet light accelerates the degradation of polyethylene plastics(Wiley, 2021) Dogan, MustafaPolyethylene plastics are widely used in daily life in the packaging of foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergents, and chemicals. In this study, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) was exposed to an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence lamp in simulated aging and degradation experiments. Ultraviolet degradation mechanisms were investigated on the surface after sunlight and UV lamp exposure. The plastic surfaces' molecular and surface degradation results were compared with their Fourier Transform Infrared-Attenuated Total Reflectance (FTIR-ATR) and ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectra. By growing the length of exposure time increased stages of degradation were observed. After UV lamp and sunlight exposure, changing degradation levels were also determined with spectroscopic evaluations and the results were compared. LDPE was selected since it has a simple structure and a number of branched polymer structures that facilitate easily disruption of the chemical bond. Breaks in the polymer chain were easily seen in the plastics at the end of degradation and a fragile structure was formed throughout the polymer chain after accelerating UV light aging. The FTIR spectrum clarified the changed and fractured molecular bond structures of UV-exposed polyethylene. The change in the molecular structure of the plastic caused small changes in its color and small variations in this color change were detected by recording the Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrum. The Philips UV lamp's light intensity and the wavelength spectrum range were measured. The UV lamp and sun UV light doses were calculated and compared.Öğe Two new species of Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826 (Araneae: Zodariidae) from Turkey(Magnolia Press, 2021) Cosar, IlhanTwo new species of the megadiverse genus Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826, from the Aegean and Southeastern Anatolian regions of Turkey are described and illustrated: Zodarion bozdagensis spec. nov. (male,female) from Izmir and Zodarion siirtensis spec. nov. (male) from Siirt. This contribution increases the total number of Zodarion species to 23 for Turkey. The distribution of these species in Turkey is also mapped.Öğe Turkish adaptation of the Ideal Grandparent Scale(Wiley, 2022) Cakmak, Aygen; Sakarya, Seda; Sahin, HandePurpose This study tests the validity and reliability of the Ideal Grandparent Scale (IGS; Mansson, 2015) on university students. Design and Methods The Turkish version of the IGS was administered to 247 students at a university in Turkey to determine its validity and reliability. The students' mean age was 21.19 years (standard deviation = 1.69), with a range of 18-25 years. Findings The results showed a single factored construct with factor loads ranging from 0.748 to 0.917 and explaining 71.67% of the variance. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.96 indicated that the internal consistency of the scale items was high. Practical Implications The Turkish version of the IGS is valid and reliable for use in potential studies to be conducted in Turkey.
