Öğe Launch Vehicle Selection for a Geostationary Communication Satellite using Data Envelopment Analysis(Ieee, 2017) Tetik, Taha; Das, G. SenaIn space business, launch vehicle selection for a satellite is a crucial managerial and technical decision making problem taking into consideration of various qualitative and quantitative factors. The aim of this paper is to solve this complicated supplier selection problem by analyzing several Geostationary Transfer Orbit launch vehicle alternatives, which have very high costs measured in million dollars. For this purpose, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is utilized and the results are compared with two popular Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) tools namely, AHP and PROMETHEE. The results indicate that all applied methods ranked the same alternative as the best. However, such a strong consensus is not observed for the worst alternative. In this context, DEA seems to determine the best alternative using less information compared to AHP and PROMETHEE.Öğe Creating Alternative Layout Plans with Simulated Annealing and Data Mining(Ieee, 2017) Kokoc, Melda; Aktepe, Adnan; Ersoz, SuleymanWhen studies in literature are examined, it is seen that different approaches have been used to solve facility layout problems. The relationship between departments in layout is always important. In this study, data mining technique is used for analyzing relations among departments and then association rules are obtained. Determining closeness relationships between the departments in facility are often ambiguous and require expert opinions. In such cases, a fuzzy component emerges in the facility layout problem. Hence, fuzzy logic is widely used to address ambiguous problems. Association rules is converted by using defuzzification approach to crisp values used facility layout problem solution in this study. Facility layout problems are considered to be NP-Hard (Nondeterministic-Polynomial-Hard) optimization problems. That is, definite solution approaches are limited in solving large-scale problem examples. For heuristic approaches are frequently used to improve the layout, simulated annealing approach is used in this study. To improve facility layout planning, simulated annealing approach is carried out via code written in Visual Basic 2012. In conclusion, 17% improvement is achieved with alternative layout plan obtained.Öğe An Intrusion Detection System Based on a Hybrid Tabu-Genetic Algorithm(Ieee, 2017) Bakour, Khaled; Das, Gulesin Sena; Unver, H. MuratIn this paper, we proposed a framework for detecting network's intrusions using Genetic Algorithm (GA) with multiple criteria. First of all, we build an intrusion detection system (IDS) using a pure GA with multiple selection methods. Then, we proposed one of the few hybrid algorithms in the literature, which is hybridized using a GA and a Tabu search (TS) algorithm. The proposed hybrid algorithm and the pure GA were tested to detect malicious traffic using DARPA dataset. The test results revealed that the proposed hybrid algorithm gives a higher Detection Rate (DR) and Detection Accuracy (AC) compared to the pure GA.Öğe Course Selection with AHP & PROMETHEE Methods for Post Graduate Students: An Application in Kirikkale University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences(E D P Sciences, 2016) Bedir, Neset; Ozder, Emir Huseyin; Eren, TamerPost Graduate Study has a very important role in people's career planning. Besides, it helps for gaining expertising on their fields. Specializing must be in the right area to reach their targets in line with people's interests. The aim of the study is to propose a model for students that determines which courses will be chosen on master course selection and this model gives an application example. In this study, course selection problem is discussed for post graduate students in Industrial Engineering Department of Kirikkale University. All criteria that are effected for selecting a course are identified by the help of survey then, significance levels are determined with using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which is a Multi-Criteria Decision Making Method. According to the weights which are determined before in AHP results, six classes weighted by PROMETHEE method in Industrial Engineering Department.Öğe The Position Of Turkish Air Transportation In Europe(Stef92 Technology Ltd, 2016) Camurdan, Burak; Cetin, Suna; Gurgen, Selim; Kushan, Melih CemalTurkish civil aviation has been rapidly grown in recent years. Particularly, today Turkish Airlines is one of Europe's largest airlines. This rapid growth realizes with the competition among the companies both in Turkey and the world. Due to this growth, Turkish air transportation connects many places to each other in the world. In this study, Turkish air transportation was discussed in terms of quantity and quality.Öğe Analysing the Impact of Universities on Regional Development: A Case Study Using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps(Int Assoc Engineers-Iaeng, 2011) Bulut, K.; Kayakutlu, G.The impact of innovation in industrial development is continuously increasing. Universities have the major roles in innovation. The positive influence of high education in regional development is required and recognized by the authorities. Researchers continue to investigate the subject using a variety of methods. This paper analyses the contribution of universities to the regional development by using the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) technique. FCM is used in modelling the critical factors and the relations between them. In this paper several factors are detected from literature. A model is designed on the detected criteria on which interviews with experts of economy are conducted. As a result seventeen criteria are used to construct FCM. Most important factors are detected and accordingly some suggestions are presented to improve University contribution in regional development.Öğe An ergonomic model proposed for multipurpose use of robots in flexible manufacturing systems(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 1997) Dizdar, EN; Kurt, M; Sisman, AAs the need in rapidness, sensitivity and flexibility of the production increase, the importance of robot automation in production system also increases. In order to automate the production, companies should buy a large number of expensive robots which brings the high financial cost problem. However, this problem can be solved by multipurpose use of robots. In this study made under the guidelines of ergonomic science which presents intelligent and effective approaches to the problems in production systems, a model is developed to show the feasibility of multipurpose use elf available robots in flexible manufacturing systems.Öğe Analysis of bowl effects on assembly line using queueing networks and constraint programming procedure(Computers and Industrial Engineering, 2014) Pinarbaşı, M.; Alağad, H.M.; Yüzükirmizi, M.; Toklu, B.In this study, a new solution procedure based on queueing networks and constraint programming is proposed to model and solve the Assembly Line Balancing Problem (ALBP). Variation of the task and the station times, and precedence relation effects are considered to evaluate the line performance. Station utilization, total average number of jobs and smoothness index are used as performance measures. Bowl effect, inverted bowl effect and variability imbalance which are seen in balanced lines are examined by using proposed procedure. Also effects of the variability on the line performance are reviewed. Literature data sets are utilized to assess the effectiveness of the procedure.
