Öğe A Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning Approach to the Dynamic Job Shop Scheduling Problem(Mdpi, 2023) İnal, Ali Fırat; Sel, Çağrı; Aktepe, Adnan; Türker, Ahmet Kürşad; Ersöz, SüleymanIn a production environment, scheduling decides job and machine allocations and the operation sequence. In a job shop production system, the wide variety of jobs, complex routes, and real-life events becomes challenging for scheduling activities. New, unexpected events disrupt the production schedule and require dynamic scheduling updates to the production schedule on an event-based basis. To solve the dynamic scheduling problem, we propose a multi-agent system with reinforcement learning aimed at the minimization of tardiness and flow time to improve the dynamic scheduling techniques. The performance of the proposed multi-agent system is compared with the first-in-first-out, shortest processing time, and earliest due date dispatching rules in terms of the minimization of tardy jobs, mean tardiness, maximum tardiness, mean earliness, maximum earliness, mean flow time, maximum flow time, work in process, and makespan. Five scenarios are generated with different arrival intervals of the jobs to the job shop production system. The results of the experiments, performed for the 3 x 3, 5 x 5, and 10 x 10 problem sizes, show that our multi-agent system overperforms compared to the dispatching rules as the workload of the job shop increases. Under a heavy workload, the proposed multi-agent system gives the best results for five performance criteria, which are the proportion of tardy jobs, mean tardiness, maximum tardiness, mean flow time, and maximum flow time.Öğe A set partitioning based goal programming model for the team formation problem(Wiley, 2022) Daş, Gülesin Sena; Altınkaynak, Büşra; Göçken, Tolunay; Türker, Ahmet KürşadIn this paper, we offer a multi-objective set-partitioning formulation for team formation problems using goal programming. Instead of selecting team members to teams, we select suitable teams from a set of teams. This set is generated using a heuristic algorithm that uses the social network of potential team members. We then utilize the proposed multi-objective formulation to select the desired number of teams from this set that meets the skill requirements. Therefore, we ensure that selected teams include individuals with the required skills and effective communication with each other. Two real datasets are used to test the model. The results obtained with the proposed solution are compared with two well-known approaches: weighted and lexicographic goal programming. Results reveal that weighted and lexicographic goal programming approaches generate almost identical solutions for the datasets tested. Our approach, on the other hand, mostly picks teams with lower communication costs. Even in some cases, better solutions are obtained with the proposed approach. Findings show that the developed solution approach is a promising approach to handle team formation problems.Öğe A Systematic Literature Review of the Predictive Maintenance from Transportation Systems Aspect(Mdpi, 2022) Ersöz, Olcay Özge; İnal, Ali Fırat; Aktepe, Adnan; Türker, Ahmet Kürşad; Ersöz, SüleymanWith the rapid progress of network technologies and sensors, monitoring the sensor data such as pressure, temperature, current, vibration and other electrical, mechanical and chemical variables has become much more significant. With the arrival of Big Data and artificial intelligence (AI), sophisticated solutions can be developed to prevent failures and predict the equipment's remaining useful life (RUL). These techniques allow for taking maintenance actions with haste and precision. Accordingly, this study provides a systematic literature review (SLR) of the predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques in transportation systems. The main focus of this study is the literature covering PdM in the motor vehicles' industry in the last 5 years. A total of 52 studies were included in the SLR and examined in detail within the scope of our research questions. We provided a summary on statistical, stochastic and AI approaches for PdM applications and their goals, methods, findings, challenges and opportunities. In addition, this study encourages future research by indicating the areas that have not yet been studied in the PdM literature.Öğe Balancing stochastic assembly lines using constraint programming and queueing networks(Gazi Univ, Fac Engineering Architecture, 2013) Alagas, Hacı Mehmet; Yuzukırmızı, Mustafa; Türker, Ahmet KürşadAs an important component of flow type production systems, assembly lines are widely used from automotive, appliance to apparel industry. In this research, the aim is finding the optimum task assignment that minimizes the cycle time under the assumption that station quantities are constant which are described as Type-2 assembly lines. Stochastic assembly lines are considered in which task times are distributed according to a statistical distribution. A new algorithm which gives optimum solution using Constraint Programming and Queuing Network is proposed. In this algorithm, the possible combinations are determined by Constraint Programming, and then, the performance measures are evaluated by Queuing Network. The method is tested with several numerical experiments from literature and the applicability is confirmed.Öğe Design of a Tracking Welding Robot Automation System for Manufacturing of Steam and Heating Boilers(2018) Ersöz, Süleyman; Türker, Ahmet Kürşad; Aktepe, Adnan; Atabaş, İrfan; Kokoç, MeldaFor satisfying customers companies want to respond to customer requests on time. At the same time, they expect production process to be completed with low cost and low loss. For this reason, the importance of mechanization and automation in production sector has increased. As a result, companies have begun to give more importance to robotic systems, which are the basic components of automation systems. Despite the likelihood of mistakes caused by physiological and mental states of humans, these systems can perform operations precisely without any variability. In this study, an application was carried out for the automation of welding process of industrial type boilers in different sizes and features. For products of which standard measurements or welding operations are difficult to perform manually, a robotic system was proposed in which measurement and welding operations can be performed automatically. In addition, operators are prevented from exposure to gas and light via the proposed system which enables a safer working condition.Öğe Improving Distance Education in the COVID-19 Pandemic with Quality Function Deployment(Kırıkkale Üniversitesi, 2021) Daş, G. Sena; Türker, Ahmet Kürşad; Aktepe, Adnan; Ay, Nilay; Alıcı, İremThe purpose of this research is to evaluate how the distance education system can be improved by taking into account the feedback received from students who have experienced distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, a questionnaire was designed to collect data about the socio-demographic characteristics of the students, their thoughts about the platform where distance education is held, their thoughts about the courses and exams made with distance education, and their views on distance education. 162 Industrial Engineering students who continued their undergraduate education remotely in the 2020-2021 Spring semester participated in the survey. The results showed that 64.2% of the students believed that distance education is not as efficient as face-to-face education. Quality Function Deployment technique has been applied to identify potential improvements that can be made in the distance education system. The results have shown that several improvements are necessary to improve the current system. Accordingly, it has emerged that several improvements should be done in order to provide interactive teaching, diversify course resources, and eliminate sources of ambiguities during the exam practice.Öğe Portföy Yönetimi Ve Hisse Senedi Seçiminde Bir Karar Destek Sistemi(Kırıkkale Üniversitesi, 2009) İşler, Mesut Cemil; Türker, Ahmet Kürşad; Ersöz, Süleyman; Yüzükırmızı, Mustafa; Arslan, MevlütBu çalısmada, karar destek sistemi yaklasımıyla, MKB’de hisse senedi fiyat hareketi tahmini yapılmaya çalısılmıstır.
