Öğe Classroom teacher's opinions about the skills in elementary school mathematics curriculum (1-5)(2010) Toptaş V.Elementary school mathematics curriculum aims at developing these skills;problem solving,communication, connections and reasoning. This study purposes to determine elementary school teachers' opinions about the skills that the mathematics curriculum had targeted to gain to the students. The study was done in 2008-2009 Academic Years and a total of 134 elementary school teachers were participated in the study.'Descriptive Statistical Method' was used and the questionnaire's reliability and validity was found to be 0.89(Cronbach Alpha).Due to this study,concerning the development of these skills of elementary mathematics curriculum in students,it's stated that the teachers indicated their views as 'sometimes'.Öğe An evaluation regarding the level of mathematics anxiety of the parents of primary school students(Ankara University, 2019) Öztop F.; Toptaş V.This research was carried out to determine whether the level of mathematics anxiety of the parents of primary school students become different at the significant level according to various factors. For this purpose, it was tested whether the "Parent Oriented Mathematics Anxiety Scale" developed by the researcher is a valid and reliable method of measurement and the level of mathematics anxiety of the parent of primary school students was examined according to various factors. This research was designed based on the quantitative research paradigm and screening model. The research was conducted with the participation of the parents of primary school students who were selected on the basis of randomly and voluntarily and whose children studied in the primary schools at the center of a province in the Middle Kızılırmak Section within the fall semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. The data in the research were collected via "Parent Oriented Mathematics Anxiety Scale" and "Personal Information Form" which were developed by the researcher. Statistical technicswere applied for analyzing the data. According to research findings it was determined that “Parent Oriented Mathematics Anxiety Scale” is a valid and reliable method of measurement the level of mathematics anxiety of the parents become different at significant level according to gender, level of graduation, number of children, total monthly income, employment status, mathematics standing during studentship. © 2019, Ankara University. All rights reserved.Öğe Investigation of the metaphorical perceptions of the parents on the concept of “mathematics”(T&K Academic, 2018) Toptaş V.; Gözel E.The main purpose of this research is to reveal the parents’ perceptions of the concept of “mathematics” through metaphors. This research, which is followed by the qualitative research paradigm, is designed with a phenomenology design. This study is consists of 64 parents whose children are primary school students in a public school in the Central Anatolia region during the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. All the parents who participated in the study were included in the study group on a voluntary basis. The data were gathered with the “Mathematics …….”; because …….. “sentence directed to the parents. The data were analyzed by content analysis technique. According to the aim of the study, the perceptions of parents’ emotions and thoughts evoking the mental concept of their parents were examined. As a result of the research, the metaphors are collected under 13 conceptual categories: “life, game, air-water, road-bridge-key, novel writing, functioning iron, tree, chainring, a remaining song and bee “. Especially “life”, “play” and “air-water” metaphors came to the forefront among the perceptions of the “mathematics” concept of the parents. © IEJEE.
