The concept of circularity in the machine assembly industry is of great importance, especially in hole-shaft connections and bolt-nut couplings. In order to reduce the production costs and to ensure the real function of the produced circular part, the circularity tolerance must be determined precisely. In recent years, the PAC method has been generally preferred in cutting the stainless steel sheets because the non-traditional manufacturing processes such as laser beam cutting or water jet cutting are very costly. The investigation of the drilled holes circularity on the stainless steel sheets with the PAC method has been investigated in this study. For this purpose, holes with a diameter of 40 mm were drilled with PAC method at different cutting speeds (151, 214 and 217 mm/min) and different gas pressures (0.6, 0.7 and 0.8 MPa) on AISI 304 stainless steel sheets with 4 and 8 mm thickness. The diameters of the drilled holes were measured with the help of a profile projection device and a digital gauge, the average diameter values and average circularity tolerances were calculated. In the machining of both 4 mm and 8 mm sheets, the circularity tolerance values increase as the cutting speed increases at constant pressure values. Similarly, when the cutting speed is constant, the circularity tolerance value increases as the gas pressure value increases. © 2023 IEEE.
