| dc.description.abstract | Located about 20 km east of Rize, Çayeli, formerly Mapavri, came under the sovereignty of the Ottoman Empire with the conquest of Trabzon and its surroundings (1461) during the reign of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. After the conquest, many Turkish tribal groups from different parts of Anatolia settled in the region. One of the reforms carried out during the restructuring of the state in the XIXth century was the census. As a result of this census, the male population throughout the country was recorded and many ledgers were created in this way. From one of these population books, book number 1143, we can learn the names of the neighborhoods and villages within the borders of Mapavri Township of Rize District and the number of male population. In addition, from the same book, we can also identify the imams and mukhtars of the settlements in the district and the migration movements in the township. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Rize’nin takriben 20 km doğusunda bulunan Çayeli eski adıyla Mapavri nahiyesi II. Mehmed döneminde Trabzon ve çevresinin fethedilmesiyle (1461) Osmanlı Devleti’nin egemenliğine girmiştir. Fethin ardından Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerinden birçok Türk aşiret grubu bölgeye yerleştirilmiştir. XIX. yüzyılda devletin yeniden yapılandırılması sürecinde yapılan ıslahatlardan birisi nüfus sayımıdır. Bu sayım sonucunda ülke çapındaki erkek nüfus kayda geçirilmiş ve bu şekilde birçok defter oluşturulmuştur. Bu defterlerden birisi 1143 numaralı Rize nüfus defteridir. Söz konusu defterden Rize kazasına bağlı Mapavri nahiyesi sınırları içindeki mahalle ve köylerin isimlerini ve erkek nüfusun sayısını öğrenebilmekteyiz. Bunun yanı sıra aynı defterden nahiyeye bağlı yerleşim yerlerinin imamlarını, muhtarlarını ve nahiyedeki göç hareketlerini de tespit edebilmekteyiz. | |
