Özet
Mehmet Emin (Geveci) Bey; yakın tarihimizde önemli roller oynamış fakat sonrasında neredeyse unutulmuş bir şahsiyettir. Vazife için gönderildiği çok farklı coğrafyalarda, öğretmenlik, emniyet müdürlüğü, dava vekilliği ve tüccarlık yapmıştır. Son Osmanlı Mebusan Meclisinde, Birinci ve Dördüncü Dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclis'lerinde Canik (Samsun) mebusu olarak görev almıştır. Mehmet Emin Bey, Birinci Dönem BMM mebusluğu sırasında, hukukçu kimliği ile Sivas ve Samsun İstiklal Mahkemeleri Başkanlıkları görevinde bulunmuştur. Bu görevleri sırasında Pontus meselesinin halledilmesinde önemli katkıları olmuştur. Mehmet Emin Bey Birinci Büyük Meclisi'nden sonra İkinci ve Üçüncü Dönem TBMM'nde görev alamamış olsa da 1931 yılında tekrar seçilerek Dördüncü Dönem TBMM'nde Samsun milletvekilliği yapmıştır. Bu çalışma ile Osmanlı Devleti'nin son zamanlarında ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kuruluşunda etkili görevlerde bulunmuş olan Mehmet Emin Bey'in siyasi faaliyetleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Mr. Mehmet Emin (Geveci); He is a person who played important roles in our recent history but was almost forgotten after all. He worked as a teacher, police director, attorney and trader in many different geographies to which he was sent for mission. He served as a deputy of Canik (Samsun) in the last Ottoman Parliamentary Assembly and in the First and Fourth Term Turkish Grand National Assemblies. Mehmet Emin Bey, as a lawyer, served as the President of the Sivas and Samsun Independence Courts during the First Term of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. During these duties, he made important contributions to the settlement of the Pontus issue. Although Emin Bey could not take office in the Second and Third Term Parliament after the First Grand Assembly, he was re-elected in 1931 and served as a Samsun deputy in the Fourth Term Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Recognition of personalities such as Mehmet Emin Bey, who played an influential role in the last times of the Ottoman Empire and even during the establishment of the Turkish Republic, is very important also for our recent history.
