While Rome was a small city-state of Italy, the process of the transformation of the Mediterranean Basin into a great empire had never lost its appeal for research in various disciplines. Greek and Roman cultures were most influential in the formation of Western Civilization. Roman culture was developed with colonialism. Ruthless exploitation and looting was mostly practiced upon slaves. There were slave leaders such as Eunus, Kleon, Salvius, Athenion, Crixus, Oenomaus and Spartacus who did not submit to this system. These leaders, who started slave revolts deeply shook republican traditions of Rome. Spartacus, the most influential among them and attracts the most attention. Is referred to as the gladiator who changed change the course of history. In this research, the Roman Republicanism/Republican Rome and the slave movements were studied.
