The aim of this study is to analyze the course of the peace and human rights movement, which addresses the fundamental problems of war, peace, human rights, universal declaration, and international conventions, and the new world order, with reference to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In addition, the future role of new social movements in terms of developing policies against wars, ensuring lasting peace, raising awareness of world problems, leading developments in democracy and human rights, and creating public opposition is examined. As an example of new social movements, the peace and human rights movement is discussed in various aspects in the context of globalization. The new social movements differ from the classical movements in terms of the subjects they address, the actors participating in the movement, their emphasis on identity, everyday life, and cultural rights. These differences are the peace movement, anti-nuclear movements, anti-war and pacifist movements, human rights movements, ecological movements, new religious movements, liberation movements, women's movements, sexual orientation movements, alternative identity movements, etc. appeared in particular. New social movements are discussed in three different periods in themselves. The first period covers the student, new left, and civil rights movements of the 1960s; the second period covers the LGBT, environment, women, peace, and human rights movements of the 1970s and 1980s; and the third period covers the 'global justice movement' such as the post-1990s anti-war movement, peace movement, anti-globalization movement, world social forum, etc. In this study, new social movements that go beyond the labor-capital relationship that classical movements emphasize and focus more on the ruptures in terms of identity, environment, peace, nuclear armament, energy, sexual identities, and alternative lifestyles than the continuities such as economy, justice, and equality are analyzed.
