Özet
Bu çalışma, 1954 seçimlerinin Türkiye'nin demokrasi tarihindeki yerini belirlemeye yönelik bir çabadır. Seçim sürecinin nasıl bir siyasal mücadeleye dönüştüğünü ortaya koyarken, mücadelenin toplumla olan etkileşimini Demokrasi kavramı çerçevesinde ortaya koymaya gayret göstermektedir.Bu konunun incelenmesindeki temel dürtü, demokrasinin varlığının tek bir seçimle açıklanamayacağını 1950 seçimlerinin ardından gelen ilk seçimle, toplumun siyasal süreçte tercihleri ile nasıl bir rol üstlendiğini ortaya koymaktı.Çalışmada öncelikle Tek Partili döneme atıfta bulunulmuş, 1946 ? 1954 arası dönem değerlendirilmiş ve 1954 sürecine yoğunlaşılmıştır.
This study is an attempt to determine the place of the 1954 elections in the history of democracy in Turkey. While examining turning of the election process into a political struggle, the study also tries to display interaction between society and struggle within the context of the concept of democracy.The basic motive behind studying this subject is to discuss that development of democracy in Turkey can not be explained just by one event, i.e. 1950 election, and to display how Turkish society with its preferences took an active role in th fisrt election subsequent to 1950 election.This study, fistly examines the Single Party Era, and then discusses the period between 1946-1954, and lastly concen-trates on 1954 election process.
