dc.description.abstractPorous ceramic materials with hierarchical pores and tailored porosity offer remarkable advantages in broad-based applications such as thermal insulation, fluid filtration, waste water treatment and others. So far, researchers and industrial experts have successfully developed porous ceramic systems using different processing technologies. More so, various characterization techniques have been utilized over the years to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of porous ceramic materials. This work intends to document the different categories of fabrication methods as well as requisite standards necessary for the characterization of porous ceramic materials. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
