Özet
Geçmişten günümüze kadar kentler; ekonomik, sosyal, siyasal gelişmelerden etkilenerek ve etkileyerek gelişme gösteren yerleşim alanları olmuşlardır. Kentleşme tarihi açısından iki büyük devrim olan, tarım devrimi ve sanayi devriminin büyük önemi vardır. Yerleşik hayata geçiş tarım devrimiyle beraber olmuş, modern anlamda kentleşme ise sanayi devrimiyle başlamıştır.Sanayileşme ülkelerin toplumsal ve ekonomik yapılarında büyük değişim ve dönüşüme neden olmaktadır. Sanayileşmiş ülkeler ekonomik olarak kalkınmış, toplumsal olarak gelişmişlerdir. Bu sebeple ülkeler ekonomik kalkınmayı ve gelişmeyi ulaşılmak istenen hedef, sanayileşmeyi de bu hedefe varmak için araç olarak seçmişlerdir. Sanayileşmenin sebep olduğu toplumsal değişmeler kentlerde görülmekte, kentlerde sanayileşmenin bir sonucu olarak doğmaktadır.Sanayi devrimi ve devamında gelişen sanayileşme süreci, kentleşmeyi hızlandırmıştır. Sanayileşen ve sanayileşmeye çalışan bütün ülkeler bu sonuçla karşılaşmıştır. Türkiye'de de sanayileşmeye paralel olarak kentleşmede hızlanmıştır. Sanayileşen bölgelerde var olan kentler hızla büyürken, sanayileşmeye bağlı olarak yeni kentlerde kurulmuştur. Bu çalışmada sanayileşme kentleşme ilişkisi irdelenmiştir.
