dc.description.abstractBu çalışma 1983-2011 arasında dört ve daha fazla dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclis (TBMM)'inde görev yapan milletvekillerinden hareketle Türkiye'deki siyasal seçkinlerin toplumsal özelliklerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma aynı zamanda genel olarak Türkiye'deki siyasal alana ve siyasal temsile daha özelde ise siyasal seçkinlerin toplumsal özelliklerine ilişkin yürütülecek araştırmalara katkıda bulunmayı hedeflemektedir. Bu çerçevede dört yüz kırk üç milletvekiline ait meslek bilgisi, seçilmeden önce yaptıkları işler, seçim bölgesi, doğum yeri, eğitim düzeyi, Türkçe dışında bildikleri diller, seçildikleri siyasi partiler, cinsiyeti ve medeni hali gibi veriler incelenerek vekillerin sınıfsal kökenleri, kültürel sermayeleri, cinsiyet kompozisyonları, siyasal aidiyetleri ve coğrafi dağılımlarına ilişkin genel görünüm ortaya konuldu. dc.description.abstractThis study aims to shed light on the social characteristics of the political elites in Turkey with a specific attention to the deputies who served in the Turkish Grand National Assembly for four or more terms between 1983 and 2011. This thesis also aims to contribute to the study of public political sphere and political representation in Turkey in general and the social qualities of the political elites, in particular. In this context, the following data concerning a total of 443 members of parliament has been collected: profession prior to election, region of birth and election, level of education, languages they speak, their political parties, gender and marital status. Based on these data, a picture of their social class origins, cultural capital, gender profile, political attachments and regional distribution is painted.
