Özet
Birinci Dünya Savaşı'nın meydana geldiği 1914-1918 tarihleri dünya dönüm noktalarından birini oluşturur. Savaşın Avrupa'da başlayıp, Osmanlı Devleti'nin de dâhil olmasıyla üç kıtaya yayılması; Osmanlı Devleti için bir çöküş sebebi olurken Avrupa Devletleri için bir nevi istediklerini alma hamlesiydi. Savaşın gidişatı ve sonucu bazı milletlerin Osmanlı Devleti'nden kopmasına ve Osmanlı Devleti'nin parçalanmasına; Avrupa devletlerinden Almanya ve Avusturya-Macaristan'ın ikiye bölünmesine sebep olmuştur. Savaşta birçok cephe açılmış, çarpışmalarda ölü ve yaralılar olmuştur. Bunların dışında esirler ele geçirilmiştir. Ele geçirilen esirler Türk topraklarında bulunan kamplara sevk edilirken, Kafkas Cephesi'nde ele geçirilen Rus esirler ile Irak Cephesi'nde ele geçirilen İngiliz esirler, Sivas Esir Kampı'na sevk edilmiştir. Esirlerin sağlık tedavisi gördüğü, haberleşmelerinin sağlandığı, işçi olarak çalıştırıldıkları kamplar niteliklerine göre oluşturulmuştur.
The years 1914-1918 when the First World War took place constitute one of the turning points in the world. While the captured prisoners were transferred to the camps in Turkish territory, the Russian prisoners captured in the Caucasus Front and the British prisoners captured in the Iraqi Front were transferred to the Sivas Prisoner Camp. The camps, where the prisoners received medical treatment were provided with communication and were employed as workers were established according to their qualifications.
