Abstract
Bu araştırma Erol Güngör'e göre, Türkiye'nin büyük çoğunluğunun iman ettiği İslam dininin, diğer dinlerin aksine modernleşmeye engel olmadığını, modernleşebilmek için dini baskılamaya, yok etmeye gerek olmadığını göstermek amacı ile hazırlanmıştır. Ayrıca toplumun modernleştikçe dinden uzaklaşmaları beklenirken, gittikçe dine yönelmesinin sebepleri de sorgulanmıştır. Bu çalışma yapılırken Erol Güngör'ün kaleme aldığı kitaplar rehber edinilmiş, Erol Güngör üzerine yazılan makalelerden, yapılan sempozyumlardan faydalanılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın sonucunda, İslam dininin modernleşmeyi sağlayacak bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelere engel olmadığı, aksine bunları teşvik ettiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Din insanların varlıklarına anlam katan bir kurum olarak insanlara huzur vermektedir. İnsanları modern bir yaşam ile dini hayat arasında çelişkide bırakmak yerine, istenildiğinde aynı çatı altında yaşayamamalarının sebebi olmadığı gösterilmiştir. Ayrıca modernleşme adına dini yok etmeyi ve onun yerine ideoloji vermeyi amaç edinen sistemlerin insanları tatmin edemeyişi üzerine, insanların tekrar dine yöneldiği sonucuna varılmıştır.
This research has aimed to prove that according to Erol Güngör; Islam, which is believed by most of the people in Turkey, to the contrary to other religions, does not prevent modernisation and to show there is no need to religious suppression and destruction. Moreover it is expected that societies get away from religion while getting more modern, reasons why they increasingly tend to religion have been interrogated. While this study is done, the books written by Erol Güngör have been taken as guides and the advantages of the articles and symposiums on Erol Güngör have been taken. At the end of this study, the Religion Islam does not hinder scientific and technological developments which provide modernisation, to the contrary it has been deduced that Islam encourages these developments. Religion, as an institute which gives meaning to people's lives, makes them peaceful. Instead of putting people in dilemma between modern living and religious life, it has been shown, if wished, there is no reason that they cannot be experienced under the same roof. Besides it has been concluded that people head for religion again when systems, which destroy religion and aim to impose ideology on behalf of modernisation, do not satisfy them.
