Materials and Methods:Aquestionnaireconsistingoftwo parts was applied to the participants. In the first part, the undergraduate and postgraduate participants answered a questionnaire measuring their self-perceptions of dental esthetics. In the second part, the students were asked to rate the importance of the characteristic features of a face on a 100-mm visual analog scale (VAS) bar. Data were statistically analyzed using the Pearson chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis tests at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The overall mean satisfaction index was 6.86. The participants in the postgraduate group and female students were the most satisfied with their smiles (p<0.05). Among the facial features important to facial attractiveness, teeth scored the highest (86.9) on the VAS. The female students achieved an overall higher mean score than the males on the VAS for facial features: teeth, nose, and lips (p<0.05). Conclusion: The dental students in the study group were found to have a moderate degree of satisfaction with their individual dental esthetic characteristics, and this phenomenon varied because of gender and academic level.
