Özet

In ancient Turkish culture, water is sacred and they have solid beliefs about water. Water is one of the most important design elements in outdoor designs. The places where the water is located are preferred by both designers and users. Water is an important social design element due to its different functions, contribution and social value among users. Therefore, efforts are made to ensure success in water design and to transfer the design culture that has been going on for a long time and transfer it to future generations. In the study, mostly historical sources, traveler notes and various guided sources were examined. Historical sources have been used to compare the pre-Islamic culture and post-Islamic culture of Turks and to evaluate the development of water design types in garden art in this direction. As a result of the study, it is hoped that in the next garden design, the place of water in Turkish culture and different usage types will develop with a different perspective. © Peter Lang AG 2020.
