Özet

This study examines the response of the Pakistan healthcare system to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health care delivery system in Pakistan consists of public and private sectors. Pakistan provides healthcare through a three-tiered healthcare delivery system and a range of public health interventions. Health system is financed by some government or semi-government organizations, each with different structures. It is seen that approximately 10.0% of the population is covered by insurance. COVID-19 pandemic process in Pakistan is managed by the “Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination” . Daily reports and updates about the COVID-19 Pandemic in Pakistan is shared on the official website. The first case of coronavirus was reported from Karachi on February 26. The first official letter for COVID-19 disease was published on January 28 2020, and the National Action Plan for COVID-19 was published in March by the Government of Pakistan. It is observed that the cases in the country increased especially as of mid-April, and the month with the highest number of cases as of July 1 was June. After declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic Pakistan government took several measures to cope with COVID-19, but some problems identified during the pandemic process, such as limited test capacity, inadequacy in the supply of personal protective equipment, lack of infection prevention and control practices of health facilities. With the support of international organizations, institutes and professional organizations, campaigns have been initiated to address existing problems, and healthcare services have been improved and regulated.
