dc.description.abstractThe texts which are primary resources of language teaching both teach the students to use Turkish language effectively and are the means used most frequently to adopt the national, moral and universal values on the way to be human. In this context, the aim of this research is to determine which values the informative texts in the secondary school Turkish text books transmit and specify the distribution of these values. The target population of the research comprises of all published secondary school Turkish text books. 21 informative texts of 2. Grade FMC Publishing, 16 informative texts of 6. Grade Gizem Publishing, 20 informative texts of 7. Grade Cem Ofset Publishing and 18 informative texts of 8. Grade Yildirim Publishing were chosen with the random sampling method. A list related to values was drawn up by taking values in the curriculum of Turkish and Social Studies Courses into consideration for the research and texts were scanned one by one. This list was shaped and developed by analyzing the Turkish text books. In the result of the study, the finding that the national, moral and universal values are not given full play in texts of Turkish text books was reached. Depending upon the data acquired in the result of the research, it is thought that this study will be a guide about the points to take into consideration in the selection of texts related to values transmission.en_US
