dc.description.abstractThis study proposes a mathematical model for the controller placement problem(CPP) in Software Defined Networks (SDN). For SDN networks, multiple controllers are often suitable, and the location of these controllers affects the network performance. In case the controller is at fault, the resilience and reliability of the network should be ensured. Therefore, the recommended model optimizes the number and location of the controller(s) in the network while controller(s) is at fault. The model aims to minimize the latency by considering the reliability and resilience of the network. The simulation results show that the average latency is slightly increased whilst providing network resilience. The proposed model can be used to integrate SDN into existing networks or plan a new SDN network.
