Özet
Objective: There is a significant increase in studies concerningthe use of platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil tolymphocyte ratio (NLR) for diagnosis and prognosis in manyinflammatory and malignant diseases. The idea that PLR andNLR can be used as a biomarker attracts many researchers tothis area. The aim of this retrospective case control study was toinvestigate the role of PLR and NLR values in diagnosis of theparathyroid adenoma.Material and Methods: In this study, 17 patients withparathyroid adenoma (PAD group) were included and the PLRand NLR values of these patients were compared with controlgroup (15 participants) consisted of healthy subjects. Results: The lymphocyte count values of the PAD group weresignificantly higher than those of the CONTROL group. Theplatelet count and NLR values were not different between thegroups. The PLR values of the PAD group were significantlylower than those of the CONTROL groups. ROC-Curve analysisresults showed that if platelet to lymphocyte ratio value was<125, it could be a specific and sensitive biomarker indiscrimination of patients with parathyroid adenoma fromhealthy individuals. Conclusion: In conclusion, low PLR values measured inpatients with primary hyperparathyroidism could be a newpreoperative diagnostic biomarker for parathyroid adenoma.
