Öğe Development of Attitude to University Students Family Communication Scale: Validity and Realibility Studies of Scale(Elsevier Science Bv, 2015) Aslan, Sevda; Gelbal, SelahattinThis study aims to develop a measurement tool that evaluates the attitude of university students family communication and also to conduct the validity and reliability of this measurement tool. Study group comprised of 355 students, 144 (40.56%) of whom were females with a mean age of 20.58 and 211 were males (59.44%) with a mean age of 20.26. Exploratory Factor Analyses were used in order to test the validity of the scale developed for this study. In addition, internal consistency analysis were used in order to evaluate the reliability of the scale. As a result of the factor analysis study, the Attitude to University Students Family Communication Scale consisted of 28 items and 3 factors. Study findings revealed that this measurement tool can be used for Turkish university students as valid one. (C) 2015 The Authors. This research was designed as a cross-sectional study. In this study, convenience sampling method was used. In result of study, perceived sociability of computer-supported collaborative learning environments predicts separation anxiety, teacher enmeshment, and rejection expectancy in a meaningful way. Published by Elsevier Ltd.Öğe The impact of orienteering sport taught through creative drama methods on five factor personality dimensions(Elsevier Science Bv, 2012) Deniz, Ekrem; Yoncalik, Oguzhan; Aslan, Sevda; Sofi, NuriThis study aims to analyze the impact of orienteering sport taught through creative drama methods on individuals' emotional instability/neuroticism, extroversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness dimensions. With this aim in, extroversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness dimensions and based on Five-Factor Theory was implemented on physical education department students at Kirikkale University during spring 2010-2011 academic year. The ABPT was implemented on university students before they started studying orienteering sport taught by creative drama methods. The test consisting of emotional instability/neuroticism, extroversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness dimensions includes 40 items. The ABPT was implemented on the students again after they had completed the 10-week orienteering sport programme taught by creative drama methods. The findings of this study revealed that there was a meaningful difference between the emotional instability/neuroticism, extroversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness dimensions pretest and posttest scores of the study group in favour of conscientiousness dimension.Öğe Primary education class guidance programme on primary education career development in 3rd grade(Elsevier Science Bv, 2012) Aslan, SevdaThe aim of this study is to identify the students' perception about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains, which already exist and are being implemented in the primary class guidance programme, regarding career development in 3rd grade. The data were collected from 3rd grade 141 students ( 85 female, 56 male) studying in Satuk Bugra Primary School, Ismail Enderuni Primary School and Haci Mustafa Tarman Primary School in Ankara in 2010-2011 spring academic term. The Perception Form regarding Career Development Process were used as data collection instruments in this study. These forms consisting of 9 items were designed as a 5-point Likert type scale. It was found that students' positive perceptions about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains regarding daily life and making plans. On the other hand, their most negative perceptions were; the behaviours of leaders and how the decisions that they take influence the lives of others.Öğe Primary education class guidance programme on primary education career development in 6th, 7th and 8th grades(Elsevier Science Bv, 2011) Aslan, SevdaThe aim of this study is to identify the students' perception about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains, which already exist and are being implemented in the primary class guidance programme, regarding career development in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The data were collected from 6th, 7th and 8th grade 160 students (90 female, 70 male) studying in Istiklal Primary School, Namik Kemal Primary School and Mehmet Varlioglu in Kirikkale in 2010-2011 fall academic term. It was found that students' most positive perceptions about materializing counselling and psychological guidance gains regarding career development were related to classifying the careers that they are interested in, describing the relationship between achieving their goals.Öğe The analysis of relationship between school bullying, perceived parenting styles and self-esteem in adolescents(Elsevier Science Bv, 2011) Aslan, SevdaThis study aims to analyze the relationship between school bullying, perceived parenting dimensions and self-esteem in adolescents. The study group consists of 348 high school students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades at Ankara Science High School and Reha Alemdaroglu Anatolian High School of Ankara during the fall semester of 2010-2011 academic year. In this study, Student Relationships Attitude Scale, Parenting Style Scale and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, were used as data collection tools. Student's Pearson correlation coefficients were applied in the evaluation of data. Significant relationships were found between Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and acceptance/involvement dimension of father and strict control dimensions of mother and father.Öğe The school bullying and perceived parental style in adolescents(Elsevier Science Bv, 2010) Ok, Sibel; Aslan, SevdaThe study aims at researching the relation between the perception of parental style of adolescents and school bullying. The participants of this study consisted of children between 9,10,11,12 classes of different two high schools. Data were collected using questionnaires Student Relation Attitudes Scale and Parental Style Scale. In result of study, reverse significant correlations were found between brullent personality subscales of Student Relation Attitudes Scale and acceptance/interest dimension of mother. Significant positive relationships were found between self-reliance of Student Relation Attitudes Scale and self-control dimensions of mother and father. Significant relationships were found between avoiding bullying subscale and acceptance/interest dimensions of mother and father. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. The study involved 95 tertiary level English as a foreign language learners. Data were analyzed statistically and the results indicated that the participants' general use of vocabulary learning strategies was somewhat inadequate and there was a gap between their use of strategies and related perceptions of strategy usefulness. Discovering the seat belt use habits of drivers and their reasons for failing to use them constitute the secondary aims of the study. In order to fulfill these aims, four different posters appealing to drivers' safety and normative motivations were designed. The drivers were then asked to choose the poster that impressed them most. Half of the drivers chose the first poster, which drew a parallelism between the casualites of terrorism, earthquake and traffic, as most impressive. The second most impressive poster was the fourth one, which emphasized the link between traffic rules and morality. Female drivers found this poster with a moral message more impressive than males. Another finding of the study was that primary school and university graduates were more impressed by the posters appealing to normative motivation. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. The participants included four prospective teachers at Faculty of Education, Kirikkale University, Turkey. Qualitative method was used in the study and data were obtained by classroom observations. The findings revealed that prospective teachers usually followed a student-centered approach and approximately two thirds of the students participated in the lesson; however, made no specific effort to involve the passive and withdrawn students in the lesson. On the other hand, two of the prospective teachers were at times observed to use verbal encouragement to involve these students in the lesson, and asked them some questions about the subject and elicited answers at certain stages of the lesson. In this study, the developed model was tested in two stages. That is why; the model was tested using Structural Equation Model. A study group consisting of 642 participants aged between 18-25 studying at university in 1(st), 2(nd), 3(rd), and 4(th) years. According the findings of this research; that the relation between parental secure attachment and personal and social adjustment mediated by healthy separation-individuation is not supported. Two questionnaires were administered to 235 pre-service teachers enrolled in the department of primary school teaching, the department of science teaching and the department of Turkish language teaching at Kirikkale University in Turkey in order to examine their attitudes and their literacy skills. Results of this study show that there is no significant relationship between participants' information literacy levels and their attitudes towards distance learning. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
